Can you play this game with a xbox controller?
I don't really want to buy a joystick right now. Can I play this game with a xbox controller? And if so, how should I set it up?

It works fine with both the 360 and X-box One controllers, and it has control setups for it, you don't need to change anything unless you want to.

I found this guide on how to configure an xbox controller: http://www.flyingscool.com/XBox360_ControllerFSX.htm

I think I'm going to follow it. Not sure what is the difference between View (6) and Look (7) though.

Oh, really? Nice. Are they recommendable?
After playing Microsoft Flight using the 360 controller, I started playing FSX with it too.
The only problem was that issuing the view control to the right stick didn't work like MS Flight: instead of rotating and keeping the view still (and clicking to center back), the view centers back automatically if you release the stick. That greatly reduces the usefulness of the view control...
Offcourse its more realistic with joystick, but is it fun with an xbox one controller?
Yes, it's very good with an XBOX controller. Better with a joystick, but the XBOX works nicely. You can even use both at once, say if you want more buttons or trim controls, etc.
ah, nice. looking to buy a joystick if I like the game. I've allways wanted to play fsx, but never really taken the time to buy it. Its nice that its on steam now :)
The best part of the XBOX is that it provides force feedback rumble, which is cool.
the xbox controller is very sensetive. maybe its just me. :P
You can go into the controller sliders and adjust sensitivities and deadzones to make the controls feel better.

Do you have the Xbox controller drivers installed? note: If you have W10, the driver is already in the operating system.
