If I switch back into full screen mode it crashes straight away. For a game that's this old now it's inexcusable.
You can auto-hide the taskbar. Right-click on the taskbar and click on Properties... Check the box to Auto-Hide it. It will only come up if you move the mouse to the very bottom of the screen.
The most important thing in this sim, is the settings, and realizing just how badly there are limitations compared to p3d, but then on the other hand, there are far more compatible or made for fsx only mods, because of the way p3d has been made.
The secret is getting a fine balance within the settings, and trying not to touch those settings down the road, which is kind of hard given the average fsx simmer is a addon monster...never the less unless you have p3d which requires a more modern beefy system with an even beefier graphics card at least 4gb..I am digressing, its just about finding the right settings balance in fsx more than anything else. FSXm uses by default only 2 gb of ram -> bottle neck, and there is nothing anyone can do about it. It's easy for land class products to become nothing but blurry, because of the lack of memory.
All you can do is experiment until you find the exact settings.
The tool will configure the window to autohide the taskbar, make sure the window is of the correct size and on the correct screen, as well as forcing it to be always on top.

Works pretty well, I use it because I run in DX10 with the DX Scenery Fixer and have multiple monitors and I've found that no matter how I configure, FSX will always open on the opposite monitor to my primary when run in full screen mode. Doesn't happen at all in DX9 mode, just DX10.
Any one know of any resolution ?
I.E. This is correct behavior, in accordance with FSX/Windows design.
1. Open the Nvidia control panel and make sure that all screens are set to 'Aspect Ratio' and not 'Full Screen'.
2. Start FSX, and if it crashes, check Compatibility Mode and try running in Windows 7 mode as FSX was made for earlier operating systems. If the compatibility mode message keeps on appearing first turn off and then disable the Program Compatibility Assistant Service in Windows Administrative Tools> Services as it is only there for older programs.
3. With FSX running choose the Resort Supply mission and put the Beechcraft Baron into Tail View with the engines off.
4. Press Shift + 1 to bring up the instrument panel and turn the de-icing on.
5. Using the pointer, hold down the left button on your mouse and slide the instrument panel over to the second screen. It will snap into place in full screen mode.
6. Do the same with the GSM and RadioStack/Autopilot.
7. Now you have a large black rectangle on your primary screen with the Baron in tail view.
8. Simply cycle through the views back to tail view and that will be corrected.
That is how this system is set up and it works perfectly and has done for many years.
This way you do not have to use the laborious panel undocking procedure which produces an unsightly window.
Sounds like you need to move the FSX opening screen over to the primary, whilst using DX10 mode, and then use Shift + X to close it when it 'should' remember to open on that screen.
I have a question:
As it is using two of the three Display Ports available on this GTX 1070 my primary screen, the one in front of me, is the #2 monitor, and shows as such in both the Nvidia control panel and Windows 10 display settings.
There is nothing on the three display ports themselves to say which is #1, #2 or #3 so how can I change this and get the monitors into the right order in both the Nvidia control panel and the Windows 10 display settings?
