REX crashes when trying to start FSX SE
Just installed REX essential+ with Overdrive Texture Packs. I can load REX, but wen i click Fly Now i get an error (below). Flight plans dont load either. Any ideas? I have turned UAC off (after install), and REX is not installed in the program files directory.

I just tried running simconnect.msi from C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\FSX\SDK\Core Utilities Kit\SimConnect SDK\lib, and the msi installed flashed up, and when i treid REX fly now this time, it spent ages loading textures, then crashed again before loading up the default fsx fly now

ok fixed it. REX seams to use version 10.0.61355.0 of Microsoft.FlightSimulator.SimConnect.dll. I ran the simconnect.msi program from C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\FSX\SDK\Core Utilities Kit\SimConnect SDK\LegacyInterfaces\FSX-SP1 and it works (and doesn't seem to have affect Playsims VFR Photographic Scenery or treescape addons)

ultimately, yes, i think that's all that is needed. I tried manivest files as per the readme here C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\FSX\SDK\Core Utilities Kit\SimConnect SDK\lib. but that didn't work.

The version of "c:\REX Essential Plus Overdrive\Microsoft.FlightSimulator.SimConnect.dll" that gets put in the REX install directory is 10.0061355.0. This patches the file in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\FSX\SDK\Core Utilities Kit\SimConnect SDK\LegacyInterfaces\FSX-SP1. So i ran the simconnect.msi from there, and the installer ran quickly and closed, appearing to do nothing, but i think installing the DLL. Then it worked. (the first time you run the file you may get a microsoft license message before the installer closed.

Seems to work for me. Then no errors when going from REX to the FSX app. (ie REX went from the config options, to a 'sat nav app', then when i start flying it loads the weather into fsx.

Not sure what will happen if there are other addons that need a different version though, but i think you can always run the other installers later to change the dll version

Managed to get it running fine after installing the dll from the FSX-XPACK folder. Now I just need to find out why my speed reading messes up and goes to 0 and why I have a giant iceberg on my plane

Oh apparently the problem might be that I need to turn on the pitot heat.
