*FIXED* Flight simulator X Minimum display resolution 1024 x 720

When I try to start the game it gives me the message "Flight Simulator requires a minimum display resolution of 1024 x 720"
well im at 1920 x 1080 and it won't start, other resolutions will not work ether

realy helpful winter....sell the pc and buy a console???I wouldnt trust a console to handle that the pc can, with the upward expandability etc....if you cant give constructive help, why replay at all

This is usually the result of an issue with a grapics card driver. What is your GPU?

Hmm...that's strange. If you were using an older card, that would be less surprising.

You have a couple of options. First, you can reinstall the driver. Make sure you check the option to do a clean install of the driver (this will get rid of your settings in Nvidia Control Center, just saying) if you do this, as anything left from the old driver could make the problem persist if that is indeed the root cause.

Second, you can try deleting fsx.cfg (found in "Users\<your username>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX"). When you restart the sim, FSX will build a new config file. If this doesn't work, you can manually edit the resolution in the config. In notepad, search for the line starting with "[Display.Device", and edit the "Mode" entry to match your screen resolution. This should resolve the problem. Otherwise, if that still doesn't do it, you might want to head over to the Avsim forums, they can provide further help.

Im not sure how to do the driver reinstall but when i open the fsx.cfg in notepad its empty

Go to your control panel/folder options. Click the view tab. Under hidden files and folders place a bullet in "show hidden files and folders" Proceed down the list and uncheck the nest three lines so that you have access to all of your files and folders
Then,...... If you've got Vista/Win 7, browse to: C:\Users\(Your Windows User Name)\Appdata\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX
Open the FSX config file and check to see if in fact FSX set the resolution properly.

^ This... your fsx.cfg should have a line similiar to:

[DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770.0] <--- matches your card
Mode=1920x1080x32 <--- matches your resolution

avsim is a good site for general fsx help...

Just a stab in the dark as I don't even own this game, but I have had similar problems before because I install my games to a custom location. The game has trouble finding the config file.

I have fixed it before by copying over the config file to the installed directory folder.

still dosent show anything when i open it even after doing this

where is it installed, on the C:\\ drive or ona seeparate drive like my setup E:\\steam\steamapps\common\fsx mine installed fine...runs fine
where is your fsx-se.cfg(in your roaming profile)
in my case it in c:\\users\michael\apdata\roaming\microsoft\fsx-se\fsx-se.cfg
hope this clarifies it a little for you, your fsx-se.cfg should not be empty
