US Colorado Rockies west of Denver or KFTG to KASE (Aspen). SE Alaska ..Anchorage to Valdez. Anywhere in the Carribean. You want to get real brave, fly around the Andes with there 12000 ft elevation airports. The limit isyour own imagination Man! Retrace the PanAmerican Hiway!

The US West Coast. Particularly if you get the Orbx scenery and the freeware Bowerman airport.

Simply stunning.

Fly Seattle to Portland using the Helens approach procedure to Portland and marvel at the blown out North face of Mt. St.Helens!... You cant tell me a European cant find some beautiful scenery in the Alps, perhaps Switzerland! I know, I have in the past over 20yrs. :)

Try Innsbruck-Austria LOWI - The Alps pure mountain feeling. Tricky airport to land on for bigger planes, however your cessna will have less problems. Innsbruck is in a narrow valley and you'll get a nice panorama if the weather is fine and you climb high enough. You can go through valleys as well and try landing when its foggy. Force yourself ;-)

Being new to FSX, and just discovering Orbx because of this thread, where do i place the .zip file I downloaded from there to have it available in-game?

Flying from Vienna (LOWW) to Innsbruck (LOWI), or from Insbruck to Saltzbourg (LOWS), is great. Not too long, mountains, lakes, towns... and once in Saltzbourg you can see the castle. Also, there is a very nice add-on from Aerosoft for improving Innsbruck airport and surroundings. Not too expensive but not yet tested in FSX:SE.

Innsbruck is my favourite airport. I visited twice. In fact, my first (real) trip from Vienna to Innsbruck on a DASH 8 Q400 by Tyrolean Airlines was the main reason for buying FSX years ago.

Best,

OLI

if you unzip the downloaded file to a temp file, there should be an installer.

ORBX has a freeware addon that upgrades Iceland, it looks absolutely spectacular.

They used to do demos of the Pacific NW and Tasmania which were full fat regions but having a quick look on their website I can't immediately find these anymore. Might be worth checking if they're still available. I remember it was the Tasmania demo that got me into Orbx scenery....I flew in a micro out of Hobart and a flock of birds came out of the trees as I took off!

Simply wonderful stuff.

Edit:

Must be as blind as a bat. They are still there. Would recommend them to anyone wondering whether to use Orbx.
