Also as the previous poster says MS do not make any money out of third party addons. DTG/Steam might from the DLC however you do not need to buy that unless you find something you really want. Most stuff is still available directly from the third party market.

There are thousands of free military aircraft. Seems a little sketchy to me.
Well there are good sites and bad sites. I would not use sites that do not have a good reputation. You refer to one that has attracted some bad publicity in the past.
A search will find what is good and what is bad. There are plenty of reviews out there for free stuff as well.

That's fine of course. In the end it is down to personal choice and inclination. However a lot of us are very happy with freeware and have no concerns about the safety of them provided they come from a reputable source
