Real world weather not downloading?
If I try playing on servers which use real world weather an error pops up saying I cant download and need to connect to the internet. I've looked all over and not found a solution and I've also re-downloaded the game twice and messed around with firewall and no results. I've payed £20 to play with my friends and I can't because of this problem. Does anyone have a fix or any ideas on how I can fix it?

Hi Martin, what my problem is, is when i want to join a multiplayer server host a multi server or play free flight with rww enabled an error code appears saying that the game failed to download rww i have tried re-downloading, verifying the cache, disabling my firewall and nothing works
Noob - try opening a browser and pointing it to http://fs2k.zone.com/. See if you get the usual "this is the weather page for MSFS" page. Contrary to what people have claimed, this is still the real world weather page for Flight Simulator, whether it's the box version or the steam version. If you can load and read the web page, then your connection to the weather service is okay. If you get errors in your browser, and the page does not load, the particular error you receive will provide a clue as to what may be going on. (DNS, timeout, etc)
Tim i opened your link and it didnt come up with any error codes

I know you said you "messed around" with the firewall, but I'm going to suggest that you dig a little deeper there, as I suspect that is your issue. The fact that your web browser is able to access it successfully yet your fsx.exe is evidently not, suggests strongly that it is being blocked by a firewall.

What operating system are you using? The process of adding an exception for a program is similar across all of them, but different enough that it requires a different approach to explaining how to verify/do it.

Also, to your knowledge, are there any third party security products installed on your machine which also perform firewalling duties? Bitdefender, Symantec/Norton, Kaspersky, Panda, Trend Micro, Webroot, ZoneAlarm, et al.. If you have any of those or anything else, you'll need to look there as well as to your stock Windows firewall.
I am currently experiencing this problem as well. I am running FSX Steam Edition and have an Internet Connection. Basically what I have noticed that the weather information is old. It has worked in the past, however some way some how it does not want to pull the latest weather.
Real weather no longer works with this game. Apparently Dovetail doesn't have the rights to Jeppensen's data for the Steam version. Use an add-on such as Active Sky Next or FSXWX.

Real weather does work in FSX steam and always has. I have no idea if you guys are trolls or just have a technical problem you're blaming on the sim.
Yes LumpyMcDump... It's all the time 15 minutes but it works...

I wish. Mine has been downloading the same clear skies weather for the past couple of months for my home area, including a few minutes ago. However it has been raining all day today in real life. I just checked my firewall setting for Steam and FSX and both have no restrictions. No idea here why it is working for some users but not for others. ASN has been giving me the accurate weather I want with minimal effort on my part.

I've read somwere that MS contract with Jeppesen for weather data delivery has ended and the game only downloads the data from the last day it was still working.
I believe Jepeson stopped providing FSX with real world weather years ago. Not sure if Steam recified this but I'm guessing not. I did a test the other day. The default weather, the windsock was blowing opposite to what real world forecasts and addon weather was saying for that area.
It was working for awhile, think dovetail got a new deal with Jeppesen for a time, but quit working for me lately.

I still don't think they have made a new deal, when you use the real weather, it is not right. You would be better off using a free weather add on or purchase one. I can vouch for FSGRW, thats the one I use.
