AIRAC (Nav Data) Update Suggestion

Hello DTG,

I fly on the simulator frequently and love doing airline runs. However, when I tried to use a flightplan generated, I found out after attempting to punch data into the FMC (of a addon aircraft) that I'm actually using nav data 9 years ahead of FSX's current default setup, resulting in issues like several VORs in the flightplan not existing, for example. While I'd much like to download a addon pack to update the nav aids, I depend on FSX's map system a lot and installing said addon pack would cause issues with the map. Would it be possible if you could, in the next update or so, update the nav data to a much more recent AIRAC cycle that works in FSX's map/flight planning system? Thanks.

Also, for anyone who doesn't know what AIRAC stands for ; its a reference number to when the flight data was most recently updated with new VORS, ILSs, NDBs and general navigation aids. FSX's current AIRAC cycle is 9 years behind.

you should get Pro ATC x with navigraph. It beats FSX default ATC by a million.

You wont learn much if anything using default ATC. It was made to direct dumbies from point A to B without getting lost.. Its been know to fly one into terrain and other aircraft. :)

So there's actually 2 types of ATCs in the game? Like, do I have to toggle them on/off or something? Could you explain further because I have never heard of these 2 "atc systems" in default FSX at all...

And yes, I'm considering Pro ATC X with Navigraph.

Keep in mind it alters stock files. It does, however, leave backups, and Steam can also be utilized to replace the default files, should you encounter any setbacks.

I've successfully used the tool without issue, particularly for the updated SIDs and STARs... for proper navigation while on VATSIM.

Another way to do this, without risking the default FSX map files, is to download the Navigraph AIRAC for your particular addon aircraft, and access the data through that aircraft's FMC.

Thanks, but that's the addon pack I was referring to in my original post. I'm just going to make do with Navigraph's FMC data + Pro ATC X's ATC system for my copy of FSX:SE. Thanks for the suggestion though!

If you need help installing it let me know man. It can be frustrating but worth it. I could also pass along some USA ATC chatter files i got. Its really easy but complicated for the first timer.

I actually live in Southeast Asia, so maybe if I can find some asia-based ATC chatter files, I'll install them myself. Thanks for the offer, but I think I can handle everything here onwards. :D

alright cool, dont forget to DL makerunways by pete dowson or pro atc wont work well. Also here

Hello all I stumble on this gentleman's website check he's site out you'll like it you can update magnetic heading and ils frequencies to match current airac www.aero.does.fr I haven't fully tested fsx yet after the update but it looks good so far.the reason I updated is because the pmdg was showing me waypoints and fsx was not picking up like ils approaches in some airports

Use at your own risk. It overwirtes 1000's of default bgl files and causes FSX:SE too crash.

so far my sim is running without any problems if all is runing alot better i dont use much of the default fsx like map or gps io mainly use the sim for the scenery i run my atc and use payware planes i know it says if you try to use the map it will crash so for the people that still fly default aircraft i wouldnt reccomend
