Mouse Cursor FPS Drop in VC
I'm really liking how things have progressed so far and I'm looking forward to even more development from DTG with our platform. The one issue I'm hoping gets resolved is the mouse cursor bug that drops fps in the VC by a great amount.

The folks at LM managed to do it in P3D, and I'm hoping it can be resolved in FSXSE too.

Keep up the great work! :)

Yea thats not going to happen ever. Thats been around since boxed version back since 2006. If you have a powerful CPU, you really cant notice it anymore. Ive been searching for a solution since 2006, 9 years later and nothing. Just accept it and move on. =)

The difference is that FSXSE is ACTIVELY being fixed where as the boxed version has NO support beyond SP2/Acceleration. So you can't really compare the two in that regard. DTG seem to listen to customer/community feedback. So all we need to do is get them aware of the issue so they can look into fixing it and releasing it in a future update.

This is a serious and very noticeable PROBLEM, when flying a complex airplane like PMDGs.
A mouse cursor on VC solely eats up even more FPS than any other factors. Even disabling whole autogens cannot compensate this FPS loss.

"To anyone that has followed my problems with very low framerates (4 fps) recently. I found some improvement when I installed MSI Afterburner, which saw rates jump up from around 4 fps to around 18 - 20. Just now, I thought I would try something different. I right clicked on fsx.exe and opened the properties / compatibility tab. Just for the hell of it I ticked 'run as administrator' - even though I am the administrator and only user. Then I thought that, as a "what if" experiment, I would also tick 'compatibility mode for windows XP3 (service pack 3), and also 'Disable display scaling on high DPI settings'."

This seem to have fixed it for me.

From what I understand, they can apply small fixes, but nothing huge. Like recoding FSX for DX11/12, or 64-bit isn't something in the cards. Or making it run at 60 FPS with all the sliders maxed with PMDG aircraft. Maybe that's something they can look at in their new simulator.

Certain small fixes applied such as the sound cutting out when pushing buttons in the menus (when you select your aircraft, airport, time, etc) would be something they could look at. Or they increased the vertex buffers, as well as have FSX calculate the proper AffinityMask, without needing to edit the config file.

The mouse issue definitely falls under these categories.

Has anyone tried using a different type/brand mouse to see if the problem persists? It's just a thought, so I don't know if doing so would make a difference. Do the users that have the mouse/fps issue have the same brand/type video adapter? I'm using an old Logitech USB wireless mouse on my slower 3.0 ghz laptop for FSX:SE and it's never caused an fps drop on this laptop, my gaming laptop, nor on my desktop. Could it be that the mouse driver may be causing a problem? (I run FSX Gold on all 3 computers, all using their own boxed version) I use the same mouse for all of my computers which are various brands: ASUS, ACER, and Alienware--I just plug it into whichever computer I happen to be using.
What GPUs do those affected with this mouse/fps issue have in common?

Unlikely. I tried using a basic Microsoft mouse and my usual Razer performance mouse, and the performance drop is the same.

Oh, okay. It was just a speculation. I hope that you'll find a solution; nothing ruins a game experience like having frame rates that go "slide show." :(

Happens in other games too. Some will go from 300 FPS down to 150 FPS with the mouse cursor on the screen. Other games, there's no framerate hit.

Think it was a placebo fix, hmm..
