I can with a few minutes Googling find a freeware PA28 that's as good as the DLC one, that's just as well modeled, that is quicker to download (depending on where you are in the world) and costs nothing....
For the price of the DLC< $15 for me, I could buy two or three games, or one bit of FSX DLC.
I mean, there's a whole heap of freeware FSX aircraft out there. If you name an aircraft, chances are it's been made either by a payware firm or a freeware firm or both (The JS3 for instance, PMDG and PAD both did their own versions of it, PMDG's was paid and PAD was freeware)
Like you I'd love to buy all the DLC but knowing there's freewar out there that's amazing quality (like....the two freeware Just Flight planes, the Cessena 152 and the Just Flight 757) tips my hand towards freeware/payware away from Steam. Mostly because I'd love...for example....the PMDG planes to be offered as Steam DLC but I highly doubt it'll happen any time soon and until the FSX SE devs decide to block off installing external programs or aircraft....yeah, I'll keep on using freeware and payware outside of Steam myself.
So there ya go, my $0.02
I have bought a couple of payware Aircraft and are pleased with them. Trying to resist the urge to spend more!
You could always visit the major fsx payware websites and keep an eye out for "special offers".... You might just find a bargain! :-)

I'd gladly pay a buck or two a plane, and a few bucks more for scenery if it was all tied directly to Steam, and it was as simple as putting it in my cart. I also can't count the number of times I've had to reinstall FSX over the years, and it would be nice if I didn't have to take inventory of all the addons I've downloaded, because they'd all be saved for me on Steam.
Do you just have it set on the 2D panel? I think it has a 2D and a 3D cockpit.
Maybe you should've tried reading my comments. But I see anything over a single sentence is probably a little too much for you to handle.
If you see FSX SE as a game and you only want pretty aircraft with mostly generic flight models, then I agree that the aircraft is "over-priced".
However, if you see it as a flight simulator and if the developers devoted considerable resources in re-creating an experience that is as close to real as possible, then I don't believe it is -- especially if you intend to spend tens if not hundreds of hours flying that particular aircraft.
Are you a commie from some far off banana republic? Is that why you hate paying for things? I remember you complaining about having to pay for something else as well a few months back. I have not bought any DLC yet from dovetail yet but if and when I see something I like I can assure you I will buy it. You should see the prices at the Carenado website which is where this DLC is coming from. They are similar here to, they range from $22.00 to $45.00 for each plane. I dont understand all the whining over here?
Ahhh, Carenado.....one of the best aircraft merchants out there. I have about 10 carenado planes and it was every expensive penny worth it lol
