ATC not directing me correctly with an IFR flight plan.
Anyone else having this issue? It doesn't happen all the time.

Yep, from time to time, been doing that since release of box. The game isnt p erfect, just like all of us humans.
We just live with it, or go fly with real guys on a live ATC server, OR, guys help me, there are ATC programs out there that are pretty good.

Thanks for the reply. It's not a big deal and it's something easilly tolerated. I was just wondering if it was just me. Thanks again!

NP, I just tune to another freq, shut them up. LOL

turn the volume down is better that way they get a sore throat talking and you just ignore them.

reasonably decent ATC but only good for IFR flying... voxatc.com

oh yeah, and they do a free 7 day trial version

Pro-ATC/X, by far the best ATC for FSX, http://www.pointsoftware.de/

I bought it, and it's better then voxatc, and of couse, it's also betetr then Radar Contact, but being better then Radar Conntact isn't realy hard in my opinion... seing how many issues i had with that.

Will also try Pro-ATC/X on FSX:SE later today.

What part of the issue?

The FSX ATC system works very well for me.

Or just use Brain and do your approach

login to IVAO network if you request proper and correct ATC :) should work with steam edition :)

The FSX default ATC is working as intended.

It always vectors out to the nearest Center, that sends you to Approach, to fly a Base, and approximately 5-10 NM from the turn to final - gives you the clearance to turn final, and forwards you to the Tower.

It does this, in that order... every single time. -Unless the area doesn't have any coverage.

The key is to tune the airport ATIS frequency when you are approximately 50 NM from the airport; take note of the active runway, and to head in the correct direction, that will have you contacting ATC about 25-30 miles out, with room for at least a 10 mile base, and at least a 15 mile final to the active runway.

Also, make sure the AI Traffic is not set above 35% at busy airports, otherwise the ATC has difficulty keeping up with all the traffic.

It happened with FS2004 too, sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt. Usually if you use an FMC GPS or LNAV you'll be fine as ATC doesn't have to tell you what way to turn etc

What problems have you had with Radar Contact? I've been using RC for a week now and am in love with it. Never used Pro-ATC so don't know what I'm missing.

I fly a lot of backcountry IFR in FSX and the default ATC does have major issues with vectoring on some lesser known airfields. Its very common for me to get vectored to something like 325 and then 330 then back to 325 several times almost right after each other (like 5-10 times) to get me onto base or final if straight in and its usualy only with smaller aircraft. I know its ATC probably trying to get me on an intercept with whatever course it wants but its just quite annoying that it won't just pick one intercept course and wait.

Its not a huge issue, but its just intolerable sometimes.

Is it windy? I'll get turn 210, turn 240, turn 210, turn 240 a few times - setting a heading of 230 will often shut them up. Bracket for the wind, AP will do this for you in NAV mode but not heading hold.
