FSX/Steam Repair

How can I repair the original install or get the files... fx_1.bmp and fx_smoke.bmp... so that smoke/wave issues are fixed. Somehow these files got deleted from my effects/texture folder and smoke and wave effects are black and blocky. Thanks

Right click on FSX in your library and select 'properties'

under the local files section there's an option to 'check integrity of local files' or something similar

if you click that Steam wil look at your FSX folders and replace/repair any files that are corrupt or missing.

Might take a few minutes... dont expect it to go quick. And you'll have to agree to a MS EULA again. Friend of mine did it the other day and it found 2000+ files corrupt. It downloaded them, fixed him right up.

Hi, sorry to bring up an old post, but I would like to do this check but don't know if you are refering to FSX.EXE or a folder. What FSX do I have to right click on. I have had a look at FSX.EXE and I can't see an option under properties called local files. Can someone help streer me in the right direction please.

Right click on the FSX icon in your Steam library page.

"FSX" here refers to the one you found on your steam library game list, not in your installation folder.

FSX Steam doesn't start. Last week it was all right and now it doesn't work. To repair don't change my problem. Uninstall and install FSX also. What can I do???

Good feature Morag. So far it didn't fix my "local scenery directory in area 120 not found" issue, but I will pursue it again later.
