No 617 Squadron "Dambusters", the LANCASTERS
Hi all, I am now into my 90's with over 20 years experience flying in MS simulators. I would like to share my Dambuster Lancasters and Project with someone who is prepared to fly a Tribute to those gallant flyers and ground crews from 1943. The subject is the attack on the Moehne and Eder Dams in Germany. Simulating such a difficult mission was never easy and indeed was always a compromise. Unfortunately my co-designer from the Netherlands, Koos van Menen has passed on. Let me say, not may "simmers" who think they are "pilots" will achieve the aims and outcomes. You see, the brief for the Dambuster Lancaster crews was to FLY EVERYWHERE AT TREE TOP LEVEL OR WHEN THERE WERE NO OBSTACLES, AT +60 ft and NO HIGHER THAN +1500 ft FOR LANDINGS at Scampton. Few in the past have actually complied with those requirements. For anyone that is prepared to "SIMULATE" and takes no exception to dropping the live Upkeep, I can be contacted at rossmcl3@tpg.com.au

Just provide some details of what you do and your system. Also what scenery you are using for England and Germany. This project was built in w7 Pro 64 bit and now I fly in w10. I first flew in FSX-SE in 2014. The Project has not been checked in w11. Here is a link to an old movie that contains views of my Dambuster Lancasters at work.

This year I am currently flying my 12th Dambuster Celebration. You could do your first in 2026, it's too late now for 2025. Thank you for reading this far and may you, upon reply, become a 617 Sqd Dambuster Pilot. Cheers, from Downunder, Adelaide, South Australia.

I'm also a long time Flight Simmer going back to the first MS flight sim program and all the versions in between. I currently fly FSX-SE on a Windows 11 based system along with P3D 4&6 X-Plane 11. Feel free to add me to your friends so we can get together and exchange ideas, I may have some suggestions on how to get the Lancaster to fly at low levels without hitting the ground.

Ken, thanks for taking time to write an answer.
Few are interested here so as noted in the original
post, try my email rossmcl3@tpg.com.au

Sorry for delay in answering, been a busy
period plus flying the DB82 re-enactment
training which ends on the 14th then its
the RAID - Moehne and Eder Dams.

It would be very interesting in test flying my DB
project and Lancasters in windows 11. I have
been afraid to do so since when going from
w7 pro 64 bit to w10 I lost some aircraft and
gauges so its understandable that I have
little trust in MS.
