No fonts with windows 7
I had this problem before with the original FSX and now again with FSXSE

The fonts in FSX don't appear, presumably because they are not Windows 7 fonts (there are only about 10 in windows 7 compared with 40 in XP). This means when I right click to access menus there is no text. I can't use any windows because of this and I can only see what is in the cockpit, no external views, no notes, no GPS, nothing!

Is there any add on for the appropriate fonts or a way to change them to something more modern?

I also noticed I can't seem to change from 4:3 to 16:9 so I will probably need an old CRT monitor to play it without stretched graphics.

Thanks,
Hymek35.

After a comment discussion on YouTube I have found I need the Verdana font, and currently the only way to acquire it is to purchase the FULL version of Microsoft office (not the trial, essentials, home or student version as these only use the pre installed fonts) this costs over £150.

Why has this font been used rather than a more standard type like Arial? I think this is a waste of money since I won't end up using most of Microsoft office anyway.

I am playing on a 16:9 momitor with no problems - What video card is showing when you go into the graphics setting in FSX - Sounds to me as if FSX isn't recognizing your video card - it is the card that populates the resolutions choices you have in FSX.

I'm using ATI Radeon HD7850 in 1920x1080, but everything appears stretched. Is there any other way to get Verdana?
