temp"---search google for a core temp monitor
I was surprised to see temperatures well in excess of 100 C when running FSX.
The first improvement came by cleaning the dustbunnies out of the CPU cooler fins.
Then I removed the fan, cleaned the joining surfaces and used new heatsink paste - after a while that can deteriorate.
The best improvement came with a new cooler and fan.
FSX is a very CPU intensive game and when your PC ages and dust settles, your CPU will run hotter. And when a CPU gets too hot it will shut down without warning under some circumstances.
When restarted it is approx 40 Centigrade case and 41 Centigrade CPU.. imo not too alarming.
System specs i will come back for.
Rather stupid, but i had to insert DVD 4 of 4 while playing and not DvD 1 of 4 (after windows had it's "malicious software removal update" the noCD (i used, because i DO have the original disks and tend to let my DvD rom idle whilst playing games.) crack was removed, which resulted in the unasked power shutdown (quite impressive copy protection, lol. In my humble opinion it's almost equal to certain aggressive viruses!!) so i had to put in the DvD again.).
A bit of advise for the ones playing like me (also with 3rd party software (Surclaro etcetc..):
For the ones playing with noCD crack (ONLY if you have the original and legal obtained copy! beware!) please note that Windows Malicious software remover update removes these apps WITHOUT notice! (this also counts for certain DRM's from 3rd party sites, even if legal obtained software here!).
Simplest of all solutions: run system restore before the suspect update occurred, open windows update (after restore), select "malicious software removal" and hide this one. Also make sure that windows update is at least on manual (type in run window: services.msc ->serach for "windows update" (no " 's of course) -> click properties ->settings: manual / enabled or disabled (your choice).
Run windows update every day then and hide the malicious software remover all the time..
PS: make sure you have a good malware remover / Antivirus on your PC to have at least the protection needed (3rd party AntiMalware/Antivirus 96% of the times better than windows defender by the way)
Note: It IS true with the copy protection of FSX! No DVD inserted and play is 5-10 minutes and then FULL system shutdown! Be aware!
