I also followed the following guide: https://www.reddit.com/r/EliteDangerous/comments/2qjsw4/psa_saitek_x52_install_problem_solved/
I even installed an older version of the Programming Software but so far nothing made the software operate as intended.
What I ended up doing was uninstalling every bit of the SST software that I had on my computer, including the Saitek drivers for my yokes, pedals and joysticks.
I rebooted my computers (I sim on 3 different PCs and use the flying hardware interchangeably) rechecked that all traces of Saitek software was gone, then reinstalled first the device drivers software for the controls, ran FSX, X-Plane, P3Dv.2 and a few other titles successfully, rebooted the PCs, ran the sims again successfully, shut down (not restart), unpludgged all of the flying hardware, then booted up and installed the SST package which included the Mad Catz Profiler software. The software prompted me to plug in my device(s), which I did, then it detected my device(s) and things have worked well since.
Have you tried just installing the device drivers first, without the SST and Profiling software?
