Cheers
Tj.
then try running it vanilla
be absolutely sure you are running the latest drivers for your video card...
I have an old dinosaur quadcore Q6600 with vista and a moderate Nvidia card, and it runs fine with fs-recorder and US photoreal sceneries, fsuipc and some Orbx, realwx weather engine
IM not getting 60 fps, more like 20-30, but im ok with that until i get a better computer
mine is installed E:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\FSX
please send me any input it would be MUCH appreciated.
Cheers Tj.
Win10 should not be a problem, I have it on my laptop, but it doesnt like fullscreen...
My vista computer runs FSX as well as FS-recorder 1.331 and scenery files, simvar, and AICARRIERS(because I love trapping on a carrier in FA-18 and F-14)
<ALT-ENTER> i believe switches from full screen to windowed and back (I run windowed)
Yes by all means install FSX:SE to somewhere other than the default (X86) directory
first, run steam as admin, then install FSX to something similar to where i have mine
E:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\FSX
then make sure your video card drivers are up to date, if you are unsure, just ask...
then...and this appears to be very important to a lot of ppl that i have asked about this
step 1, Install all the simconnects that DTG doesnt automatically install for you
keep in mind these are simconnect.msi files...just double click to install
where my FSX:SE is installed into my E:\ drive
there are actually (4) simconnects in FSX:SE
E:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\FSX\SDK\Core Utilities Kit\SimConnect SDK\lib
(install this one first)
E:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\FSX\SDK\Core Utilities Kit\SimConnect SDK\LegacyInterfaces\FSX-RTM
(install this one 2nd)
E:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\FSX\SDK\Core Utilities Kit\SimConnect SDK\LegacyInterfaces\FSX-SP1
(install this one 3rd)
E:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\FSX\SDK\Core Utilities Kit\SimConnect SDK\LegacyInterfaces\FSX-XPACK (YOU SHOULD NOT NEED TO INSTALL THIS ONE)
DTG now includes the install for the xpack since the last update/patch
the 2nd thing to do is install the C++ redistributable
E:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\FSX\_CommonRedist\vcredist\2005
there are 2 files here
vcredist_x86.msi (to install for 32 bit)
vcredist_x64.msi (to install for 64 bit)
just double click on the pertinant one for your system, should be 64bit
If you can't find them in your directory can you please go to this website, download and install these two files.
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=3387
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=21254
Please make sure you install them to the same drive where you have FSX installed. It doesn't need to be same folder or anything. Just the same hard drive.
just to make sure it is installed, the XML parser should also be installed, it should have been loaded already by fsx
E:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\FSX\Installers
msxml.msi
double click this file to install
install Directx 9.0c
E:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\FSX\_CommonRedist\DirectX\Jun2010
hopefully this will get you started, and back in the pilots seat...
let me know how this helps you or if it doesnt...
We are sorry to hear that you are having some problems getting started with FSX: SE. It sounds like you are running into difficulties getting everything set up and running correctly. Especially add-ons.
Here is what I would advise.
1. Take a deep breath. It is incredibly frustrating when things just don't seem to work and you can't see why. To get to the bottom of it you are going to need to be methodical.
2. Start from fresh. Uninstall everything. That means FSX: SE (see below) and all add-ons. If you don't and try to take shortcuts you can never be sure that your problems are not caused by something you didn't delete.
3. To uninstall and then reinstall FSX: SE follow the instruction in this guide - http://steamcommunity.com/app/314160/discussions/7/530645961935761807/
4. Next watch this video by our friend Jordan King.
https://youtu.be/xgt9BLYc5rY
In particular the section on Launching the game and Steam Interface. However, the whole video is worth your time.
Now is the time to launch and test the sim, before you install any other content. You want to get the base sim working before you start to add additional content.
Are you still getting that flashing screen you mentioned? It sounds like a graphics card driver issue, as you fellow simmers mentioned. Check that you are running the latest driver for your graphics card. Does your graphics card have it's own config tool? If so, run it and check to make sure that you don't have any strange settings turned on. Also check the obvious things, like that your monitors are all plugged in correctly.
5. This video, also by Jordan, might be worth a look too. It shows how he has his system setup

6. Installing Steam add-ons. Start with these first. A full guide to doing this can be found here https://fsxinsider.com/installing-add-ons-in-fsxse-part-1-steam-add-ons/
7. Installing third party add-ons. This is where you are most likely to run into problems. To do this follow these steps.
A. Makes sure that the add-on you are trying to install is compatible with FSX: SE. To find this out check with the developer who made them. They will be able to tell you if they are or if you need to download an update. Not all developers have updated their add-ons to work with FSX: SE so some might not be compatible at this time.
This thread might also prove useful:
http://steamcommunity.com/app/314160/discussions/2/620703493312371968/
B. While you talking to the developer also check to see if they recommend any special installation procedures for that add-on. Some of them do.
C. Install the add-on. If the developer recommend following a particular process then do that. If they didn't, follow the instructions that came with the add-on or what the add-ons installer prompts you to do.

Most problems with running legacy add-ons on Steam relate to the Simconnect module. The Steam install has it as a file but doesn't automatically run it. It is located in the following file location and should only need to be run once:
Steam\SteamApps\common\FSX\SDK\Core Utilities Kit\SimConnect SDK\LegacyInterfaces\FSX-XPACK\SimConnect.msi
D. Check the sim is working. It is really important that you do this after every add-on you install. If you try to install them all in bulk you will not be able to tell which one is causing you the issue. If you find that a particular add-on is causing problems, uninstall it and try the sim again. Is it working okay now? That means you have an Issue with that add-on. Set it to one side and come back to it later. If you do encounter an issue we would advise contacting the developer who make it for some advice.
8. Have you run into an issue? Additional help is available here in the forums. Firstly check our support FAQ:
http://steamcommunity.com/app/314160/discussions/7/530645961936230762/
Failing that try posting in the Help and Advice Forum found here:
http://steamcommunity.com/app/314160/discussions/2/
Having problems with an add-on? Try posting in the Non-Steam Add-Ons Forum:
http://steamcommunity.com/app/314160/discussions/2/
It is always worth using the search feature to see if anyone else has posted about this issue before creating a new thread. They might have already found a solution and save you a heap of time.
Finally if you want to get in touch with us directly for some help you can do that here:

I hope that helps. Just take it one step at a time and be methodically about your approach.

first off is to un-install everything, then beleive me i will do as you all say to get me flying again.
Cheers Tj.
If there is anything else we can do to help you please let us know. I know there is a lot of information there but we are here to help if you get stuck.
Good luck and happy flying,

Nah. I have tons of PC games but only five of them are listed as compatible games by the GeForce Experience software for my GX 970. Those five games were all released on and after 2010. I have the occasional video card hiccup running FSX:SE with EVERYTHING maxed out, but I wouldn't let the game not being officially compatible stop you from doing the rest of the troubleshooting. We are pulling for you to get back to the skies.
Thanks All
Cheers Tj.
