FTX Global vs GEX
Ok one thing that's missing for my FSX is improved ground textures. I'm looking into FTX and GEX. I'm a global flyer. I want to fly everywhere and anywhere. That would speak for FTX Global as the pricetag is lower than all of the GEX packages and FTX looks very inviting. But I've heard that it tends to be too green, especially in arid places. And GEX doesn't look too bad either and from the screens there is no green in desert and arid areas. And what's the story on the road lights with FTX.... are they very performance heavy?

I was blown away by FTXGlobal, I simply can't imagine flying without their products anymore. The price always put me off but I decided to take the leap and purchased FTXGlobal and Europe LC a couple of months ago. No regrets, simply one of the best FS related purchases I ever made. I can't really comment on GEX.

i personally run FTX havnt used gex but for me ftx didnt affect my frames at all nothing too noticeable and the night lighting is amazing and the terrain looks bueatiful especially with ftx vector if you want to see an ex of how night lighting looks check out my latest screenshot and see for yourself

GEX looked flat to me, FTX Global all the way. The more power your PC can push, the more amazing the landscape looks. I have all the North America, Rockies and Pacific LC regions and it adds so much depth. I can't wait to start on building up my Europe regions.

Global Base + ORBX Regions looks good but needs a strong cpu. Global base + UTX looks really good too and is more forgiving on your hardware. Night lighting also looks better in UTX. REX4 has realistic water textures and nice sky lighting options. DX10 fixer is a must have for any of the above mods and overall runs much smoother.

Run lights configurator utility at least once and pick your settings, that solved night lighting problems for me. Also check Steve's DX10 fixer if using DX10, and check OpenLC NA for region-specific coverage in north america north of US-Canada border.

I had to say I was a bit underwhelmed as well with the same setup. But ...well, it's still better than stock.
