Pilots Records-Logbook
just wondering whether or not FSX-SE actually records flights completed in theh pilots record logbook. I compleed a flight from Manila to Clark International airport, but after I completed the flight, I looked in the logbook, and there was no entry record for that flight, as though the flight never happened. anyone advise me on this please.

The logbook doesn't always seem to play ball.

Since the earliest days of FSX I've used a logbook editor....there are both payware and freeware one's available....just do a search and take your pick. If a flight doesn't record for some reason you can still enter it and also, if you do a long haul over two or three sessions, you can edit into one logbook entry.

Personally I use this one:

This however is payware but it works in P3Dv3 (and FSX:SE) which I use now and also does back-ups each time an entry is made.

This sometimes happens. Restarting the sim usually does the trick.

It's possible your logbook file got corrupted. It happened to me a couple times.

I fixed it with the FSX Logbook Recovery[flyawaysimulation.com] free utility from FlyAway.

Or you can just delete the Logbook.BIN file in your documents folder and let the simulator create a clean one. But if you don't want to lose previous logs I suggest the utility ;)

If you are interested, all aircraft have a VDO. This instrument records engine time, and they are in most sim aircraft. This is the time instrument pilots use to enter into their log books. It turns on and off with the battery, generally, but this may vary from aircraft to aircraft. There are 2 logs real pilots maintain, their personal logbook and the aircraft daily log/maintenence release.

So an option, if you really want to simulate flight records as close to reality as you can, you could record your own time in a log outside the sim.

The sort of info you should record is:
The date
Pilot name (You would also record PAX or other crew if you can in real life)
Departure and destination (eg: YBBN - YCAB)
Time started (VDO reading for the daily log)
Time finnished (VDO readingfor the daily log)
Total time (Subtract the VDO start time from the finnish time, for both logs)
Fuel Quantity at start (for the daily log)
Fuel Quantity on shutdown (for the daily log)
Total fuel used (for the daily log)
Number of landings

The fuel is not a requirement in real life, but I do it. It is a fantastic way to calculate your fuel burn.

Google Pilots log books for an idea how they are set out.

I know this is not as easy as the sim doing it for you, but it works.
