I suggest you should take this to a forum where painters actually gather and share their repaints, for example AVSIM. Additionally, in the past I've reached out to repainters directly through AVSIM, and that might be the best means for getting tips for a specific aircraft model.

Try a browser search using "FSX livery repaint tutorial." I got several promising results including some YouTube tutorials.
