PMDG J4100

Hello All,

Just downloaded the above product, i already have the 777,738,737 with no issues, i opened FSX.SE and when i loaded the J4100 i found that 1)..No Sound, 2) Black Gauges, 3) some buttons and switches work when some do not, i am sure there are more issues, i have uninstalled and reinstalled with no luck with the above issues any help would be much appreciated, i have sent Avsim the same question.

HI,

Officially the J41 isn't supported in FSX:SE, but I and others have managed to get it installed and running with only one problem (IAS hold doesn't work). PMDG have been talking about another service pack for many months now, but they are up to their necks in developing all the new stuff, so this is a low priority for them...

I had no issues installing, but my PC has only ever had FSX:SE on it, so that probably helped. If you have, or have had a boxed FSX install on your PC then there's a good chance that a mix of registry keys is confusing matters.

The main issue I had was that the FMC didn't appear to work, but that was down to a small installer issue, in that it couldn't install a font into windows automatically. IIRC the font was glassga.ttf which can be found in your FSX\fonts folder. If you open up control panel and find the fonts section you should be able to drag and drop that file to get it installed.

I've suffered a few CTD with the plane, but nothing too major. Have a read around that subforum I linked above and there will be quite a few hints and tips.

Hope you get her up and running, I think she's a great aircraft... Complex, and she keeps you busy, but great fun :D

Well if a company asks for 90€ by a single aircraft model and textures, it should be doubt free that the product is compatible with the newest FSX version.
It is a joke, that the developers didnt update this aircraft allready to make it FSX SE compatible.
If a company ask for prices like that, absolutely no issues should exist.

Hello Sam, Thank you for your response and i will read the thread and try to get this baby in the air, i was quite upset that PMDG did not post the non compatibility with SE its there but you have to look for it and i already have 777,738,737 so i trusted the download, i will keep you up to date.

Hello ATBlob you are so right, but i and others like me are stuck with the aircraf,t paying that kind of money you want it to fly. very dissappionted with that company.

Hello Sam, I uninstalled made sure there was no other reference to PMDG J4100, I moved that font (i think) reinstalled the plane was different again, engines running full T, still no gauges and could not get the throttles to work, maybe you can explain to me Install Manually, not a tech person.

PMDG have not published J4100 for steam edition now, but it says new version for steam will appears soon( maybe next Febrary). However, I am more instrested in 747 V2.
