Differential breaks
I am having an issue with fsx-se where the differential breaks are stuck on. I can't find anywhere to shut them off. Anyone know how to turn differential breaks off?

Differential breaks?

There are 4 commands listed in FSX:SE for breaks but none are for "differential breaks".

What aircraft are you seeing these with?

If this is a 3rd party aircraft, the developer would be the best place. Also, check your keyboard key assignments. Maybe it was added and listed.

sbarton39, are you using any sim controller or just mouse and keyboard? Sometimes they show up for me at the beginning and I have rudder pedals. I just depress the brakes and the message goes away. If you have pedals, set sensitivity to the middle range and null zone to the far left, and check to reverse the X and Y axes (for left and right axes).

It happens with all aircraft. I have no paywear aircraft. I am using the Logitec Extream 3D PRO when this happens. It never happend before. I also have the Saitek setup (yoke, rudder, switch, radio, auto pilot panels. It all used to work well except now I have the break problem with the Extream PRO. The seettings mentioned is how I have it set.

sbarton93, in that case try calibrating your brakes by pressing the Calibrate... button and following the on-screen instructions. If that still doesn't help, your pedals may have a mechanical fault. If you remove the braking axes for the pedals and do not see the Diff Brakes message stuck on, it is probably the pedals that need to be calibrated or are faulty if you have the same braking settings. If it is just the beginning of the free flight and pressing both pedals make Diff Brakes go away, then it isn't anything to worry about.
thanks i will try that. I did try with the pedals and they work fine. it's only when i use my joystick that i have the problem. i have the breaks set to the trigger when i use it alone.

It is spelled brakes, by the way. :-)

I don't remember off the top of my head if Differential Brakes or just Brakes show up when the trigger is pressed. I use pedals exclusively for braking. It is possible the trigger is a little sticky or defective so when you release its pressure and moves the pedals ever so slightly the sim thinks you are differential braking? I haven't used that the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro but I believe its trigger is a button press and not an axis, so calibrating won't help for it. If the pedals are working fine worst case scenario you could just disable the trigger for brakes so only the pedals function as brakes in FSX.

It's probably called Toe brakes. I encountered the "differential brakes" on some European and Russian aircraft.

check all your controllers. you may have brakes assigned to more than 1 controller. I had differential brakes that would flicker or come on intermittently. It turned out that my parking brake had an assignment in pedals and yoke button. I deleted pedal assignments and left yoke assignment I wanted. It worked fine after.
