Microsoft Flight Simulator X: Steam Edition

Microsoft Flight Simulator X: Steam Edition

VR Support??
Firstly - as I'm most of us here are - I am huge fan of this game and would love to see even more versatility and functionality come in the future.
That being said... I plan on investing in the HTC Vive, with all of it's bells and whistles. SO...what would I love most in this world? To be able to use the VR headset AND both hand-held controllers in MSFX:SE.
Just think about it!! Having the ability to flip all the switches, use all the inputs, and have real-time authentic control of yoke with the HTC Vive controllers AND be able to experience the virtual cockpit just by turning your head instead of pressing buttons on a keyboard or hat-switch....I'm giddy just thinking about it. And although I'm sure Dovetail is planning on incorporating VR support in their new flight sim, I'd really like to use it for all my games and trust that it will function correctly to give me - and all other VR users - the most immersive experience possible.

Even if it's not possible....I thought I'd spark a conversation about the "what if."

Thanks for reading!

Post a few days old, but no doubt you have looked at Flyinside and leap motion? both give all that you mention. won't get my HTC Vive until May but so looking forward to flying in the virtual environment.
I hadn't seen Flyinside or leap motion until just now. But at least we know it's a possibility!!

Not quite. Leap Motion has well known problems with output accuracy and misreading hand positions that at least in the current version make it inadquate for a satisfactory flight sim control experience.
And a big thing that's still missing is tactile feedback so you know you've both contacted and moved a control. Most people will have no idea how much they miss that until they find it missing in current VR controllers.
I would love to see this sim get official OPENVR support and not have to play it on my Vive through 3rd parties. I have an HTC Vive and a Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog with rudder pedals and am desperate for more high quality sims to use them with. So far War Thunder and Elite dangerous have awesome VR support!
Hooded Crow: you need Prepar3d

I hear X-Plane 11 will have native support but as for DTG, they've stated that the new sim will not, as they don't seem to think there's enough interest in it and so do not wish to develope for it yet, at least not until there is a clear winner in VR Headsets.
I did a tutorial a few weeks ago on how to set up a VR Headset using your phone and two cheap software's. If you want an idea on what it's like, TrinusVR and FaceTrackNoIR is a good start!

Thank you. I tried the Trinus a few months ago but for some reason I could not get the tracking to work, but the views were great, I just had to use my Joystick Hat-Switch to look around.

I'll check out your video and see what I missed.

Use VorpX

That would be great if I had an Oculas Rift.
So what is the opinion of those using this with Flyinside and so on? .... would you describe this as a game-changer? ..... or would you say this is better in small doses - and would not replace your monitor flying for most flights?
