Help me understand why this airport VOR isn't working?
Hi - I completed the VOR lesson in FSX and wanted to try it out at my local airport https://skyvector.com/airport/EGNC/Carlisle-Airport

I managed to get the DME locked on to 110.7 which would show the distance to the radio beacon but no directional information was available. If I tuned to Dean Cross on 115.2 I would get both.

The chart doesn't give any indication that I could see which implied that directional information wasn't available, so what am I missing?

It's DME only. How to tell the difference between VORDME and DME, I don't know either. But from a quick glance on my screenshot, I can see that DME station only consist of a square with a dot in the middle, while VORDME has a hextagon inside the square.

Why Skyvector don't draw it as DME only? I don't know either, lol.

VOR/DME refers to combined radio navigation station for aircraft, which consists of two radio beacons, placed together, a VHF omnidirectional range (VOR) and distance measuring equipment (DME). VOR produces an angle between the station and the receiver in the aircraft, while DME does the same for range. Together, they provide the two measurements needed to produce a navigational "fix" using a chart.

Distance measuring equipment (DME) is a transponder-based radio navigation technology that measures slant range distance by timing the propagation delay of VHF or UHF radio signals.

Yep - DME only but there is an NDB associated with it. Not the usual thing you see and this type of navaide configuration is more common in Europe compared to the US.

Two NDB/DME approaches are available (Rwy 07 and Rwy 25) -

As you can see the Rwy 07 approach is a DME arc approach - this video gives some information on how to fly a DME arc although this one uses a VOR - the technique for a DME arc with NDB would be the same as that described for using the RMI for a VOR/DME arc - only a relatively small part of this video as I do not use the RMI - I am a 'twist 10 / turn 10' guy. (But maybe not a bad idea to do a video for an NDB DME arc approach).

The other approach is a teardrop procedure turn - this video shows how that is done (the secret is knowing what bank angle to fly the teardrop turn at) but this one also uses a VOR

And some written material that might be of some help -
