Microsoft Flight Simulator X: Steam Edition

Microsoft Flight Simulator X: Steam Edition

Learning how to fly.
i know this could sound stupid, but is there anyone willing to teach me how to fly an airplane.
i guess this could be done on multiplayer.
i am asking this as i can't learn from youtube videos, it is a problem within myself.
i know the basics of the aircraft just need to know how to use them right.
Thanks. ;)

There are lessons built in to FSX. Click "Learning Center" in the blue column on the left side of the main FSX screen, then select the "Lessons" tab on the top right.

Under "Student Pilot", click "Lesson 1: Straight and Level Flight". Read the entire lesson, and at the very bottom, you will see a link to click that says "Fly This Lesson Now".

Rod Machado is a real flight instructor (sorry about the corny jokes), and the lessons are true to life. Do them in order, and you will know how to fly.

You could also try 'Flight School'.As its name suggests it will teach you the basics via a series of lessons. It's cheap too.Just a thought.

I am with pirate on this one.. the in game lessons are pretty good, that is how i learned how to do vfr flight. and I found the fllight school lessons to much of a go here and so this as opposed to actually showing you explanations as to why you would do such things.

I started just a few weeks ago and it takes a LOT of time to do it right and progress. Like anything else in this life that is worthwhile, it isn't cheap.

What I was told = "ENJOY the journey, LIVE the life." You have to crawl before you can walk but there is much fun to be had along the way :)

FSX tutorials are very helpful but there are many resources out there just waiting to be tapped.

Many pilots/educators/enthusiasts share their knowledge on the internet including some of my favorites "Gvad the pilot" and "Gary Wing" on youtube (among many others).

I have recommended this a few times on here (honestly I'm not the author) but the book Microsoft Flight Simulator For Pilots is brilliant for learning FSX and how to fly properly. It's kind of like the manual that is missing for FSX. It's over 700 pages long and takes you from the very basic manoeuvres in a trainer right up to flying instrument approaches, multi-engine flying, jet aircraft, and so on.

The book publisher provides a set of flights that you download and insert into FSX, and work through using the instruction from the book. It works very well as any time you get confused you can hit pause on the flight and read the instruction again.

Also the free Aviator 90 videos from Angle of Attack .. www.flyaoamedia.com ...have been a great help.
