Check it off in the settings and run FSX, then you'll see what I mean, all kinds of "shimmering" effects, flashing, and undesirable graphics artifacts.
Not if you get Steve's DX10 Scenery Fixer which fixes the problems with the DX10 Preview Mode. Using DX10 you get excellent cockpit shadows, better water effects and, when used in conjuction with Steve's Cloud Shadow add-on, cloud shadows on the ground. See: http://www.mutleyshangar.com/reviews/bc/dx10/dx10.htm - ignore the download link as it's quite an old review and many new features have been added since then. Buy at: https://stevesfsxanalysis.wordpress.com/how-to-purchase/ - well worth the money!
Agree, Steve's DX10 fixer is the way to go, it actually improves performance, at least it did on my system.
