Steve's Directx 10 fix, should I?
I'm using an alienware alpha i3, 8gb vram. I can run directx 9 on high, good frame rate, no issues. I try 10 and I get clipping on interiors, flickering on runways and black building scattered between normal buildings on high. I imagine I can run it lower better, ill try again later but is it worth running it lower with 10 or higher with 9?

DirectX 10 is supposed to use modern hardware better than DirectX 9. That is why many FSX users invest in the Fixer to help fix most of the issues of the unfinished DirectX 10 implementation. I am one of the many satisfied customers.

Yeah people seem satisfied. I think I need to tinker more, its not running well when I enable it and I believe it should. Might need to move fsx over to my ssd.

Dx10 mode wasnt that great for me, even with the fixer. The sun was never right, just a white disk. Weather never worked right. Lights were ugly. DX9 is so much better

Yeah after tinkering my pc/console doesn't like dx10, I get awful tearing when I pan. Steve says don't buy it if you get bad performance. Thanks guys, weird considering I run xp11 and fsw on high, guess nvidia doesn't like to run older games.

I use both DX10 fixer with the NVidia Inspector and the combo works quite well for myself and I'd have to say I'm a happy customer. I also have Rex Essentials which replaces the sun, clouds and various other enviromental bits and pieces. All good packages if you ask me.

There are quite a number of UTube vids explaining how to setup the NVidia Inspector.
I see no need for it.

Great guide with links. I have further tweaked it to suit my hardware/tastes but the files make a huge difference.

Dx10 plus steves fixer worked wonders for me. On dx 9 I had issues with black boxes appearing on airport buildings and lights on aircraft. Steves dx10 fixer fixed all of these issues as well as giving the sim a slight performance boost. Fps went up a bit. Also pretty sure vas usage went down a bit in dx10

Example of the above video in use on my FSX;SE

Nice little video.

I notice Ryzen 5 is your processor, how do you find its performance with regards to FSX-SE ?

Good frame rates? and textue loading/processing speeds?

I caved and bought it and the cloud shadow thing he made. No regrets. It fixed my issues, I do still have minor clipping in cockpit view when panning with my aircraft but I think I can lower some things to fix it without regrets. But it fixed my black buildings issues and everything looks much better now. I give it a big thumbs up. Fyi I'm using an i3 alienware alpha console, ssd, 8gb vram. Running it on high settings, only drops I get are in heavy cities and bad weather but I'm running high on everything, ill tinker with it. Thanks fellow pilots.

Thanks :)

Yeah, I got lucky with my AMD's. The two I've owned seemed to be the good ones for FSX and FS2004 as I know they're infamous for issues not just with FS but other games as well. I had one in my laptop which ran great and then I finally splurged and got a custom build recently and the guy at Canada Computers talked me into it. It's been running FSX silky smooth since day one and has been very stable. Though with NVIDIA Inspector in the mix and the setup that was recommended I get better than Direct X can offer with drastically less pixelation.

Important thing is to find what works best for you in the end so I'm glad to hear it worked for you :)

Figured out my other issue, shut off anti aliasing, runs perfect now on ultra.
