I think FSX-SE will run just fine on your setup.
You could also benefit from another program called CPUcores, running in the background while you have FSX-SE running.
FSX-SE is optimized rather well for modern computers, of which yours is one, so I don't think you'll have problems.
If you haven't already done so, I would also recomend getting a joystick, preferably with a twist stick for rudder control. It is much better and easier than using a keyboard and mouse setup.
If you do purchase, let us know how you go :)
Set your zoom level at 40-50% and use your hat switch or mouse look, even a head tracker if you want, and you'll have a good feel for how they fly in real life.
not many computers can run flight simulator x at more than 25 fps on mid settings anyways.
How do you run it?
Step 2 Download it
Step 3 Click on the "Play" button
Is that what you asked?
I mean, what his performance is.
My specs:
a6-9920 2.5ghz proccessor (dual core)
radeon r4 512mb(intergrated)
8gb ram
I normally fly in smaller planes but my laptop can handle slightly larger planes with medium-high settings+ scenery addons. Frames range from 20-40fps.
Happy flying!
The cost from Steam is very little compared with the original price from Microsoft and will give many hours of satisfaction as long as you keep at it.. Freeware available from various sources - Simaviation for one, and takes little PC knowledge to install new aircraft etc.
to be honest what i said was a bit of an exaggeration, really. it depends on location; if i'm at some unknown airfield in africa or whatever, i get around 50-100 fps. but if i'm at.. lets say heathrow, i get around 20-30 fps.
Welcome to the FS community!
FSX is a bargain piece of software as an introduction to flight sims. Plenty of freeware stuff around, and a lot of it is good.
If you do want to significantly boost the sim's scenery appearance and happy to spend money, buy OrbX Global - it's not cheap but makes a real difference without killing frame rates. Plus, if you get into simming more, you can buy P3D and your OrbX licence will cover that too.
Nightmare is totally right about a joystick - try and get one with twist and a separate throttle, the Thrustmaster HOTAS X is a good one to start with and will suit Elite Dangerous or combat sims too.
Also important - Active Sky weather, a texture pack e.g. REX and of course, aircraft; check out something like the Quality Wings Boeing 757 if you want a cheap, good aircraft to learn airliners in.
Best thing to do is to log onto Twitch and look for people streaming Flight Simulator - you'll be able to ask questions and have them answered immediately by the streamers or the people in the stream.
