Did you tried at the another airport? Longer runway maybe and also the autopilot should be off while the takeoff run can you check that?

But i take off from heathrow i think it was sufficient airport for 747 :steamsad:

Set your trim to 4.4, the CLS 767 Has the same problem

via using num pads ?

Dont forget to set the flaps at 10 before take off (press F7 Three times)

Setting the trim as noted above will help, and you can also try letting the speed build up a little beyond where the rotate callout happens.
LHookins Nov 25, 2018 @ 7:50am
His speed hit 222 by the end. Rotate was called at 170. His flaps were at 5. Pitch looked to be less than five degrees nose up on the attitude indicator although it looked higher in the "crash" screen.

Mike's advice to set 10 degrees of flap is probably from the manual and should help. Anyone remember how to set trim using the keyboard? I use a button on my joystick. If you are using a joystick, make sure the sensitivity is set to max or you might not get full response. Given how fast the plane was accelerating I suspect the nose should have been higher, but I don't know what the manual says about it.

I couldn't really read the airspeed indicator clearly in the video, but you're right, 222 kts. should be more than enough takeoff speed.

Elevator trim with the keyboard is Numpad 1 (up) and Numpad 7 (down)

This is the Commercial Level Simulations 747 he's flying, I have this installed but it's not the DLC version, I got it direct from Just Flight Ltd.

I tested this at KLAX Rwy 25R with 75% fuel, 10 degrees flaps, and the elevator (stabilator) trim at a setting of 4.4 nose up, and it lifts off smoothly and climbs normally at the rotate callout speed, which I estimated to be about 165 kts indicated, but it does require a healthy pull back on the stick to get it airborne and climbing.

Increasing the nose up trim a bit more from the recommended 4.4 setting might get it off the ground and climbing with slightly less back pressure on the stick, it's something he could try experimenting with at any rate.

Thanks, as I will have a little more time I will definitely try again.

Can someone tell me how to use this on-board computer in 747?

I assume you are referring to the FMC...??

All I can tell you to do is read the manual.
LHookins Nov 25, 2018 @ 4:00pm
Thanks 3 Wire. The only way I could read the instruments was to temporarily increase brightness which I can do with a keypress using a utility called Gamma Panel.

These high fidelity complex aircraft need to be flown by the numbers or sometimes they won't fly at all. Did you try taking off with no trim and 5 degrees of flaps? Does it always call out V2 twice or was there some problem?

Since there is a speed limit below 10000 feet of 250 knots, 222 is awfully fast especially to still be on the runway. That kind of speed might possibly shred the tires if it is modeled but it shouldn't prevent liftoff if you are still accelerating.

I like programming the FMC and watching the aircraft fly from one chosen airport to another seeing the automation doing the work its very clever and great fun once you get the hang of using the FMC. It takes a bit of practice to get use to using it but when you do its great fun well worth spending some time learning it.

I only fly the 747-8 around the UK Airports as I like doing lots of take off's and landings. The take off spead VR Flaps 10 is 140 knots it tells you in the ADI Display. And the trim is automatically set by the computer based on your fuel weight and payload usually slitley above or below 6 degrease nose up. The ILS lines the aircraft up for landing at the foot of the runway the skill is then to slow the aircraft (touch down 140 knots) without shooting of the end of the runway and burning the brakes out.

One thing I forgot to mention. There are some very good tutorials on Youube for programming the FMC. I wrote down the various sequences like 1.2.3. and so on then used this list and refured to it while programming the FMC. This way you should learn it quickly and in no time you'll be doing it from memory.
