(SOLVED) [Active Sky Next] Opens up, then closes without errors (Stuck on initializing)
I recently purchased ASN, and I'm already having problems using it. I installed on the same folder where FSX is installed, and installed the config tool under tools, but when I open up ASN, the boxes wich countains wheater information, hurricanes, and news, have an "Please wait" text implying that It's loading, but It just closes after a few seconds, without a single error.

Does anyone know how to fix this, I hate to refund this since I really wanted a good weather gen.

Update: Tried a bunch of fixes, but It didn't work and I'm almost at my breaking point. Also I should've put in the title that ASN is stuck on initializing, my title was a little "vague".

Active sky not very capable. I would suggest Active Sky 2016, very dependable and easy to work with.

I've made my purchase through Steam because It's way cheaper than buying on other websites, since where I live uses another currency for purchase. So yeah, AS16 is a no-go.

OK so keep trying to fix ASN.

Welp, I got until December, 6 to fix ASN without playing FSX. Otherwise I'll have to make a refund.

YKEES!!!!
Mr.Gentlespy Nov 26, 2018 @ 5:31pm
After some troubleshooting, I got ASN to work. Apparently, the server addresses were inserted on a host file inside system32 that made the connection to the servers with an suspended account, and would always fail to connect. After removing them, ASN starts and initializes everything without errors.

Are you talking about Windows/System32/Drivers/etc/hosts ? This file serves to direct an address to designated IP. If the file have more entries than standard return addresses (127.0.0.1 and ::1) it might be a sign of malicious activity running on the computer. Hackers tend to infest this file with fake address-to-IP resolutions.

Yep, that's the file. These modifications were done by me a long time ago, and just came back to bite me in the ass, so there's no need to be worried about an attack on my computer (besides, I'm mostly messing around on the internet than doing important stuff on this machine).

What host file, Is it the icalendar file or the hosts.file?

It's the hosts.file, you're gonna open it with notepad and fiddle with it a little.

I did, I reset it, and now it works, but I do need to watch out for unintended consequences.

Thanks by the way.
