For Newcomers to FSX Missions. 1. Missing Coworker Mission.
Anyone wishing to contribute their Mission advice is welcome to do so.

Missing Coworker Mission.

Without insider information this mission is practically impossible, so you might want to make a printed note of this with MS Word.

There are - seven - positions where you can find the missing coworker in his crashed Beechcraft Baron.

As soon as the mission loads press the pause key to give you time to set everything up for take off.

Zoom all of the cockpit views right out to 0.30 and when you get to the last view make sure to click on the Engine Alternate Air handle to switch to alternate air source and click on the four rocker switches under it including the Pitot heater.

Zoom the left and right wing views out to 0.30 by holding down the - key, and the tail view out to 0.40 by tapping the - key four times in rapid succession. [Minus key.]

Press the F7 key to apply one notch of flaps and then Hold down the Ctrl key and - TAP - the E key to start the engine. [Don't hold the E key down and wait for the engine to start as this doesn't work simply because the key repeat inputs multiple inputs and confuses the system.]

Press Shift + Z to get the display in the upper left corner of your screen.

In tail view press the pause key again and you'll see the flaps move to take off position and the engine will start automatically as you have already keyed in these control inputs.

Now to find the missing co-worker:

From Chelan Municipal parking turn left onto the taxiway and go all the way down to the end of the runway ready for take off. [Runway heading 203°]

Take off and head towards the beginning of the lake, raising the flaps and turning right to head up the lake towards Stehekin at full speed and at 4000ft.

When you reach Stehekin keep on flying straight ahead turning the auto pilot OFF and slowing down to 120 KIAS.

Here is the search course to cover all seven possible locations.

[Ist Location.]

As you approach the mountain turn right and then first left staying to the right hand side until you can see two groups of rocks. If the Baron is there you'll need to slow down rapidly and apply flaps for landing.

NB I - never - lower the skis as you can actually use the brakes with the skis up, and you will need to, as stopping from sliding on icy snow can be - VERY - difficult, so when on the ground you need to approach the Baron - very - slowly. When the distance to the Baron is down to 0.0 hold the Maule with the brakes and throttle and wait about 20 seconds for the co-pilot to announce that she has the co-worker on board. This applies to - all - locations.

OK, so the Baron wasn't at this location.

[2nd & 3rd Locations.]

Do a canyon turn and head back the way you came in turning right toward two snow covered valley floors. The Baron can be in either one of them. You will see smoke from the co-workers fire and he should also fire distress flares.

No Baron?

[4th & 5th Locations.]

Canyon turn again back the way you came and head back towards Stehekin taking the first valley on the right and fly quite a long way right up the valley. The Baron can be on the valley floor or, gaining altitude, as you slowly reach the highest point on the - right - of the valley and make a - left -turn to view the peaks on the left hand side, the Baron can be found on a snow field where landing is quite a task. If you can't hold the Maule apply full throttle and take off, turn around and try again. Landing speed needs to be as slow as possible to avoid coming to grief and smashing the propellor. Two notches of flaps to land and maybe three to stop.

Still no Baron?

Head all the way back to Stehekin and fly back down the lake until you see a small hummock on the right side with a small lake to the right of it using the GPS to find it easily.

[6th & 7th Locations]

Turn right flying up the valley, again quite some distance. The Baron could be on the valley floor but, if not, keep going keeping to the left of the valley until you are near the end, where the Baron could be on the right fairly high up.

If it is, turn directly towards it and land just to the left of it. On landing turn right towards it and, again, just hold position at 0.0 until the coworker gets aboard.

Always take off with full throttle and one notch of flaps pulling back all the way on the joystick.

The same is true with the Denali Mountain rescue, where using the autopilot makes reaching the high ledge very easy. You'll need to fly directly away from the landing site to allow enough time to gain altitude then turn 180° and keep on climbing until you are about 300Ft higher than the plateau. [The landing can be quite difficult and may need more than one attempt if you can't stop the Maule from sliding off.]

[You can Google for a map of six of these positions, but it doesn't show the first one.]

Newcomers? I've owned FSX since 2006 and I've never flown that mission. Thanks for the tips.
