Very interesting. So is the GTN 650 the small unit?
It looks like they should both work together, based of the pictures anyway.
Good luck getting them synced. I prefer the Garmin G1000 but those do look very nice.
I never actualy bought into them because they seemed a might pricy given each was sold separately, but now they have the "complete" package which provides both units, plus they've been updated for P3D v4 and work equally well in FSX-SE.
TAWS is included so there's plenty of warnings if that mountain or the ground is coming up too fast.
The package also comes with the Garmin GTN750 Trainer (~2.8 GB separate download) and is what the GPS's leverage for their functionality, now if only the units played music ;-)
Plus they integrate directly into the VC with many planes, just like in the pics below. Alternatively there is a small hotspot placed on the screen to open it for planes without direct integration, and it can be undocked.

Hows the frame rate with the GTNs undocked?
Thanks for the heads up on this upgrade to the default GPS. I dowloaded and installed it (after making a backup of course) and it works perfectly in both FSX SE and P3D v4.2
I don't have much use for the GTN 750 because as you noted it is rather pricey ($65 for the "complete" package) and I don't fly general aviation aircraft very often anyway.
no difference whatsoever that I can see, in P3D I get between 100-130 fps
Asus X470 Pro
Ryzen 5 2600
ATI RX-580
I'd be curious to know what you're settings and slider positions are just for comparison purposes to my own hardware setup and settings.
FXAA - Off
Anisotropic - 2X
AA - 2X
Resolution 1920x1200
Texture Resolution 1024-1024
Cloud range 90
Density Full
FPS on the Ground was 100+ now at 7000 with AS4P+ASCA it's between 45-50
The other thing is that I'm learning to fly the procedures and just to get the Canadian Air charts in pdf for ex. it would be $112 either that or get a subs somewhere or if your lucky get outdated charts.
If you like to fly airways and procedures the charts are "nearly" a must have.
