To make a flight plan follow these steps in logical sequence.
1. Choose your aircraft. I suggest the Bombardier Lear Jet 45 as Lear Jets are easy to fly and have an easy to use autopilot.
2. Choose the departure airport. I have just chosen LFRS
3. Choose what weather you want. Fair weather is preferable.
4. Choose the departure date, time of day and season. Check it to make sure that something didn't change before you click on OK otherwise you may have to start over.
I have just chosen to depart at dawn in the month of September, my favorite month.
Click on Flight planner....
1. Choose your desired departure location which is LFRS again.
2. Choose your destination. For the sake of this exercise I have chosen LFBD
3. Then choose VFR (Visual Flight Rules) and...
4. Choose routing as Direct - GPS
5. Generate Flight Plan and click on Find Route.
You will now see a window with the straight line route. I made it short so that you can easily see the departure point and the destination.
Make five waypoints by placing the mouse cursor on the line and dragging the line to your chosen waypoints. A zig-zag, so that you can see the autopilot at work controlling the flight.
You should now have:
LFRS
Waypoint 1 [Must be in line with the runway heading.]
Waypoint 2 zig
Waypoint 3 zag
Waypoint 4 zig
Waypoint 5 [Must be in line with the runway for the approach.
LFBD
The Flight Plan for - VFR Nantes Atlantique to Merignac.PLN
There are TWO saves which you should make. First click on Save and OK and then answer Yes.
Click Fuel and Payload and make sure that you have sufficient fuel by clicking Change fuel...
Left - - - 100.0%
Center - 99.0%
Right - - 100.0%
Click OK and click on Save again.
Enter the flight title: VFR Nantes Atlantique to Merignac.
Click OK.
You know how to use the Autopilot?
Above right hand glass panel click GPS [Other Lear Jets, left hand side panel switch.]
Enter the speed you require, 220 KIAS +
Set your altitude ceiling. It is a short flight so 2000 ft should do, depending on the height of the terrain between departure airport and destination.
Set the course to the runway heading when the aircraft is on the runway center line.
Open the GPS and click TERR so you can see the terrain ahead of you.
Press down on MSG twice until it shows OFF and close the small window.
Adjust the GPS so that it does not take up too much room on your screen.
Set flaps 8 for take-off.
With the brakes on, advance the throttle(s) to 40% N1 and allow the engines to settle.
Advance throttle to full power, but not into the red.
Release brakes and take off.
[You can check the take-off speed, etc. in the kneeboard by pressing SHIFT+F10]
Use the flight director to maintain the correct nose up pitch attitude. [Approx. 10%]
Using the Autopilot
From left to right, and in logical sequence: [Other Lear Jets are/may be different.]
I. Above R/H glass display click on GPS
2. Switch flight director [FD1] to ON
3. NAV switch to ON
4. Autopilot switch to ON
5. Speed hold switch to ON
6. Altitude hold switch to ON
[Don't switch on the course hold switch. This is only for straight ahead flight, according to your manual course settings.]
The autopilot will now guide the aircraft to your chosen destination.
At 10 miles out reduce speed to 200 KIAS to slow down and start apply flaps 1 then 8 as you steadily reduce altitude.
Just before landing apply flaps 20 and on landing apply spoilers with the / key and press the F2 key and hold it down until you hear or see reverse thrust being applied.
NB When the rolling speed drops to 60 KIAS press the F1 key to stop this process.
You should be safely on the runway still moving at 15 KIAS to taxi off the runway.
Now you can make another flight plan where you are.
I hope that this is what you’re looking for.
Notice all the steps you do before advancing the throttle to take off.
Hook
In the flight planner there is edit tab click it and drag line(s) to any intersections or Navaids along your straight flight plan(hint use cross cursor to pan the map and zoom)
I asked the previous question Because they said the above....... The AP cannot move if you're pre "fly now".... It makes this confusing
