Interesting Routes
Anybody got any interesting routes to fly in a passenger aircraft? Just wondering because I am kinda board. Thanks!

If you're looking to fly atr or smaller EGLL-BIIS is a nice, challenging approach.
Depending on your add-ons regarding scenery - I like going through downtown Los Angeles, see the Staples Center...the Hollywood sign, etc.
You can find all sorts of local landmarks that you've driven past in real life.
Hi Kaiser.
Have you tried: http://www.phoenixva.org/
RPLB-RPUB less than an hour, approach @ rwy 09
http://flightaware.com/

Punch in 2 airport IDs, and you'll get a list of flights. Click on a flight, and you'll see all of the flight details, including a route map. Scroll down, and on the right you'll see the filed speed and altitude, and a link to "decode" the flight plan. Most of the waypoints didn't exist when MS created FSX, so you'll either need to edit the flight plan file (.pln) and add them manually, or do what I do which is to use Rex Essentials with a Flightaware subscription (about $24/year) and let it decode them and create the flight plan for you.

I like to pick a commercial flight and see if I can duplicate it in real time. You can run Flighaware in the Steam browser, and use it to follow the real flight in real time. If you position the airplanes GPS with the correct zoom level in the lower right hand corner of the screen, you can pop up the Steam browser, and compare the real flight's current position on the FA map to your position on the GPS map. I'm usually within a couple of minutes of their arrival. Closest I've gotten it is arriving at the gate 6 minutes behind the real flight.

SAEZ>SCEL have good terrain, and so do SCEL>SAWH. a good long (10K+ nm's) is SAWH>UIII.
KSEA or CYVR to PAJN at night, real weather. It's an interesting flight with a bit of a challenge on apph and landing. :-)

LGAV to LYTV is another interesting flight--the final apph to LYTV uses an offset Localizer to the right of rwy 32 and can be quite a challenge in limited visibility conditions. Definitely one of my favorites. :-)
I'm chasing Southwest flight 976 from Baltimore to Orlando right now. (Guess I'll be late for work) :steamhappy:

He's beating me. I'm doing 385mph and he's doing 381. I'll gain on him after I hit FL400.

Edit: He beat me by 12 minutes. I was ahead of him up until FSX ATC gave me a ridiculous 52 mile arc in for a landing. Just flying that took more than 12 minutes. Next time, I'm going rouge and heading straight in for the landing. ATC be damned. You maka me late!

ACA822 type A319, from CYYT to EGLL, flight time of 4 hours and 9 minutes
I'm trying to build up my instrument time, and I also like a little navigational challenge, so this time of year (winter), a route that has it all is JFK to Toronto City, all at night with Real Time Weather feature enabled. Few airports and cities are more beautifully modeled than JFK / NYC, especially at night, and the ATC directions are relatively complex. The bonus, however, is the last 50 miles or so from Niagra Falls to the tiny airstrip on an island offshore of Toronto.Add in a lake-effect snow storm or fog and it's a nail-biter.
Another interesting, scenic and somewhat challenging flight is from the mile-long airstrip at Big Bear City, CA, to North Island NAS on Coronado Island in San Diego Bay. In about 100 miles, you drop from 6700' to just above sea level, and when the off-shore Santa Ana winds are blowing, a typical approach takes you out over the ocean and into Mexican airspace (Tijuana Center).

Lastly, for sheer white-knuckle excitement, try a quick round-trip from Telluride, CO (9000') to Aspen, CO (7800'). Even in clear conditions, it's a toss-up as to which is the greater challenge - take off or landing!
Great Thread. Keep em coming. The best part is that these tips are good for all flight sims ;).
Wow. I actually started something. I have tried many of these routes and I must say that it really goes to show how nice this community is. Thanks fellas!
