TOGA works independently of the auto pilot and needs to be dis-engaged manuelly by pressing the toga button on the throtlle console or by the keyboard command ctrl + shft G

I would say at a guess that TOGA stands for Take Off, Go-Around. Would that be the setting the throttle needs to be at for take off, and the throttle possition for a go-around?

Normally, it is full throttle, but those jets have so much excess thrust...

TOGA is what you say, but it is part of the auto-throttle system. The TOGA is activated by a key board key combination usally "ctrl shft G" or a dedicated click spot on the planes panel such as the toga spot on the default 737 throttle quandrant pop-up

Yes, I agree, but is is easier to understand when you know what it stands for, and what is supposed to happen when you hit that switch.

On a real aircraft, would you hit ctl-shift G, or hit another switch or button in the aircraft? I'd say you simply set the throttle at the TOGA mark. Am I right? If there is a TOGA button, I'm guessing that it just automaticly sets the throttles at that mark, am I right?

BTW Mike, didn't you bring this subject up in a previous post? One marked "Landing Problem"?

Without you telling us what you are flying, and what hardware you are using, it's hard to offer any sort of advice or opinion to help you.

No, in a real airplane the TOGA is activated by pressing the toga command button on the throttle quadrant. The command is part of the autopilot, moving the throttles manuelly will acomplish the same thing there are no throttle lever settings the command is a computer controlled throttle control.
