PLEASE HELP/ ILS

flying stock a321 or even 737 from dc to pittsburgh. assigned runway 28. i set the correct freq of 108.900 in nav 1. set course at 280. then when atc says turn left to 300, descend 3000 ft. i then turned to 300. after bout 10 secs enabled the LOC button, but the jet never turned in to 280 runway. what should i be doing different?

Make sure the ILS/LOC code shows on the Primary Flight Display and in the VOR indicator in the lower left corner of the Multi-Function Display.

I found a tutorial on YouTube where the HDG button is used to fly the default 737 across the runway center line at another airport, then the APP button is used.

I noticed the plane in this video is landing nose high. He might have a large/heavy fuel load, which makes it necessary to fly nose high which obstructs the pilot’s view of the runway. Try using the fuel dialog to have about 20% fuel load when you approach your destination.

Are you sure landing ILS is the proper way to land in that type of aircraft? It's possible that FSW does not allow ATC assist in automated landings. I always thought that ILS was just used to guide you to a safe landing but not actually all the way to the ground.

As for automated landings, I thought only the 777 and 787 were the only aircraft capable of automated landings.

yes, set to NAV. in fact when i start vectoring, i set to nav, so as not to forget

thx, but these videos are no help. just would like one that shows when to click vor loc/ loc. and app. cant find one anywhere.
