Career mode?
Im looking into buying this game. Im wondering though if there is some sort of career mode in this game. Like can you have your own little charter business and fly random people somewhere and make money for your business and then buy other planes? Or have a career in the airline business? I just dont want to pick some random plane and then pick an airport to depart from and fly to some other random airport to land. Id like to have some type of money managing or business managing aspect other then just flying.

That's not built into FSX no. There's add ons you can buy that do that though, or you could join a virtual airline.

There's a set of flying lessons in FSX though that you work through with an instructor and take check rides etc. and there's a set of tutorial and some other type of missions to do as well. I've not looked at them for years tbh but there's stuff to do other than just fly between random airports.

edit: found it, there's this too

There are plenty of options for that type of thing, but they are all add-ons or online based systems. I use Airhauler 2 - and that sounds exactly like you describe but it's not free. There are plenty others (some free, some not) like: FSeconomy, Cargo Pilot, FSpassengers, Fscaptain.

There are also loads of Virtual Airlines typically running through dedicated websites, some with connection software for flight tracking and so on - and run as a business.

Sounds complicated...the virtual airlines that is but sound interesting. Can you briefly explain how it works? After searching and getting frustrated I posted here asking for help and once I did I found those adons you both mentioned.

The fscaptain doesnt seem to have the depth im looking for. Fspassengers seems neat but I didnt find a video that explained the economy of it a whole lot. Id like to buy/sell planes and work my way up to passenger jets or commercial airlines.

I will check the cargo pilot and the economy tomarrow its late now and im going to bed.

Thanks for your help!

Cargo pilot is a kind of sucky version of air hauler. Probably Air Hauler 2 or FSeconomy is what you're looking for. I've used air hauler a lot but not tried 2 yet.

Well you are in luck there is 2 that I know of and I use both of them, the first is http://www.fseconomy.net/ check that one out and if you have the money get Rex Latitude.
It is economy based where you start of in a cessena do ten flights and if your passengers are happy with your flight IE: take off descent landing and make sure you have at least 1 hours of fuel left in your tank before touchdown , then if your score 50% and above then your given a new plane to fly, this will take you a very long time to get to the top of the tree and fly the big stuff but the flights get harder and percentage rates are higher, i strongly urge you to check out you tube before buying it...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rlxx-9mbSVE
http://www.rexsimulations.com/latitude.html

I hope I have helped you in some way, if you do buy Rex Latitude let me know and I can watch you on line and chart your destinations as i see you flying live. good luck plenty to watch and read about and thanks to Morag who posted about fseconomy that would be a starting point for you..GOOD LUCK see you in the sky somewhere:)

PS: Rex latitude just updated to the latest patch.

Very Nice! Thanks for all the help everyone! I watched a video of fseconomy and it looks pretty close to what Im looking for. Also with an added bonus from what I understand is that it is free as well. Im going to look into the Air Hualer and the Rex latitude. I will let you know and then maybe we could fly sometime :)

If you want to splash a little cash, FSPassengersX is another option you have. Similar to FSEconomy in many aspects, but everything is done inside the simulator.

Basically you create your own airline, set a goal (or don't set one, your choice), buy your aircraft and pilot, then either work up from 0 flight hours and build your career or start big and start with larger jet airlines.

I personally preferred it to FSEconomy with a much nicer UI, plenty of customisation options and simulates everything from Passengers to Cargo, fuel prices and types of flight (Normal, Tour, Stunt), Passenger Sounds and more.

FSPassengers. Do not do FSeconomy. It's broken.

Tsarcasm: What is the problem with FSEconomy? I used them some years ago with no problems. If they have a problem, they are pretty good about fixing it.

At least if it is a technical issue.

You can download the demo fspassenger, this is more pilot focus, it will penalize you for erros while in the air and youll get emergencies and system failures, you still have a budget to manage your airline and grow it, and there is airhauler2 I don't have it but this is more airline management this one you can hire other pilots and create routes etc... I'll let you do the research

+1 for Air Hauler.... it is demanding though.... it runs in real time. Don't let me turn you off it though, it is very immersive and fun

Is FSPassenger worth the money what is the difference between the demo and the full version?

before you get into those things , learn to fly properly first,.that will already take some time.
before you invest more.
