The program can be downloaded as a demo which gives you 15 minutes per flight. Trust me. After the first 5 minutes you will happily pay the low cost for this fantastic program.
I have oculus rift and flyinside. You can download the demo which only gives you 15 minutes for free. I have the paid version obviously. Its a great program and fsx does look and feel more immersive when flying in VR, but there are drawbacks. VR in FSX is great if you only want to fly GA planes or the default airliners. I fly the PMDG Airliners so using VR with these proves to be somewhat difficult as you need to set up the plane with the CDU etc. Also whilst using VR with flyinside it reverts the sim back to DX9 graphics which uses a lot more memory making the sim more unstable than it usually runs in DX9 without VR. If Im not in VR my FSX sim runs in DX10 preview with steves fixer. Looks amazing and more stable with that setup.
So when I fly PMDG I dont use VR. Its pretty hard to fully sim a flight in VR with complex add on aircraft.
- My favourite plane to use in VR is the A2A piper, looks amazing as it has all 3d panels in the VC.
If you have the rift or vive and own FSX, the flyinside software is a no brainer must have, even if its not perfect, - it gives you that option to use VR when you want and one of the great features - If I want to play FSX without using VR, my original settings are left as they were in dx10 maxed out.
-You dont have to fiddle with settings, flyinside does it all for you.
Happy flying
I think Aerofly FS2 is the one to get if you just want to fly in VR with pretty graphics.
I have both FSX and MSFS. FSX does not support VR. I also have the FlyInside program for FSX -- it worked great with my Rift S but it doesn't seem to be compatible with my Reverb G2. There might also be a VorpX profile for FSX but honestly my experience with VorpX has been mixed and playing il-2 1946 in it made me nauseous.
I know this is an old thread, but I just wanted to correct you, @shadowgravy
I just checked the store page for FSX, and it does indeed have the 'VR' tag, so .......
cheers
