Not allowed to exceed 340 knots
Recently just switched to a new PC and had to reconfigure my settings on FSX. I'm not sure if it's something I missed but I cannot exceed 340 knots without getting an overspeed alert no matter what my altitude is. After taking off, the speed limiter was locked at 340 knots and was still the same after reaching 32,000 ft.

Before I switched , I could exceed 400 knots without a problem. Same plane, same flight plan. Anyone know what's going on here?

I don't know maybe you had over speed disabled but you shouldnt go above 340 knots in any plane

Which aircraft is this an F16 .

If you're speaking of a passenger jet, 340 knots is beyond the normal maximum speed of the aircraft, with the exception of the Airbus A380. The 747s that I fly rarely go beyond 330 knots.

That got me the first time I flew passenger jets too. That is indicated air speed - it becomes inaccurate the higher you go. Switch the speed indicator on your flight display (the left vertical gauge) to Mach. It will display the correct flight speed. You may need to push a button or knob, depending on which jet you are using. If for some reason you are stuck change the game's settings from show indicated air speed to show true air speed.

The Mach speed will actually be higher, in knots, than the indicated air speed. The speed gauges in passenger jets are not designed to accurately measure speed in knots above a certain altitutde. The sim will tell you that you are overspeeding and you are actually going much faster than the jet is designed to withstand.

This isn't primarily a FSX thing. I learned the hard way while flying MSFS 98, and earlier versions likely do the same overspeed warning thing.

Thanks all for your input! it turns out that last time before I changed my PC, I had "display true airspeed" on rather than indicated speed. Thanks for reminding me of that Bullpup!

It's very important, that you always use indicated air speed. True airspeed is useless
