Not really anything special - in the FSX controller options there's a drop down list to select a controller, so you'll see your joystick and the controller in the list - just make sure there's nothing duplicated. Basically just delete any assignments to your xbox controller that you don't want or are already assigned to your joystick.
FSX will use multiple controllers, joystick, rudder pedals, throttles, xbox controllers etc. When you plug the xbox pad in then FSX will probably assign funtions to it that you don't want if you only want to use it for Chase Plane.
This is correct and said better than I can
Morag - You mentioned that FSX will auto assign functions to Xbox when plugged in, can you force FSX to not auto assign?
Ken - I see you are using Chase Plane, I am less than one week into it.
Have you setup key or button assignments to your different camera presets for your different aircraft? This is the only part I am a bit confused about in that could there be conflicts? For example - I seem to have about 6 or 8 Inside camera presets and 6 or 8 Outside camera presets for each aircraft.
Does it matter if you use the same key or button for let's say Pilot View for each aircraft?
Is it really possible to pick 12 to 16 different keyboard keys or joystick buttons without conflicting with FSX?
How did you handle this?
Just when FSX first detects it, there's a default set up for the xbox controller. You can just delete the assignments or set them to what you want - I don't know how Chase Plane works I don't have it so I don't know if you need to set the xbox controller up in FSX or the camera program.
Anyway, once you've set the assignments how they need to be and saved them you won't need to do that every time.
Thanks again for your help...
Thanks Ken - yes I am doing just that - have deleted all my Xbox assignments and am looking at what to get rid of in the joystick and keyboard assignments to prepare for setting up Chase Plane preset assignments.
Just wondered if you also had any comments regarding CP multiple assignments in so far as duplications or conflicts go as I questioned in my above comment?
thread is about setting up the chaseplane camera add on
