Personally I have the Thrustmaster T-Flight Hotas, and also own the much more expensive Saitek X52. I prefer the T-flight Hotas for FSX - non military flying - much prefer it.
It's a solid beast and great for all levels of FSX flying - not just beginners.
You could argue that If you can stretch to £100 you should buy a budget stick - and then buy a Saitek throttle quadrant with it. This would give a more realistic FSX control. It's not needed as a beginner but a great improvement moving on in the sim. It can also be added at anytime in the future.
I have the 4 and LOVE it. It's incredible, and "I don't know how I lived without it".
The least expensive option that is still a great choice is the Logitech 3D Pro. For what you pay for it (about $20), it's an amazing stick. Lots of options, buttons, very solidly built, and works like a charm.
But, for flight sims, I won't go back to anything less than the throttle/stick combinations (the Hotas).
If I had your budget, I'd do like Steve Mak said and get the Hotas, then maybe add a decent set of rudder pedals. I don't know if that would put you slightly over budget however, I'm not sure about the conversion from pounds to dollars, and what prices are like where you're at. But I would think pedals would add so much more than a throttle quadrant, but I don't have one of those either, so I may be wrong!!! I'm still learning. :-)
Yes, the Red one for PC/PS3 is much reduced at the minute. (£37 UK compared to £58) If you don't need PS4 compatibility I would buy that one at the current price - as they are otherwise identical.
I wish I had known the difference... "3" which is the X is for PS3 (and works for the PC), while 4 is for the PS4 specifically (but is also PC compatible). But, BestBuy didn't have the X, so I got the 4.
Maybe different in the US Ebon, but the black/red T-Flight hotas X is for PC/PS3 with a dual selection switch to change over.
This stick was never known as the '3' here - just T-Flight Hotas X. I did notice another slight difference - the new 4 has a direct connection for the T-flight rudder pedals - but they can obviously be just connected directly to the PC if using the old stick.
I fixed my above post. Basically, you can get either, and be OK on PC. Nice.
On Craigslist in my area there's the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro for $20 (USD), and also the Saitek X-52 Pro for $75. Any suggestions? Is the Saitek worth the extra money in the long run?
