Microsoft Flight Simulator X: Steam Edition

Microsoft Flight Simulator X: Steam Edition

Nav/GPS switch seems to be missing.
I am not a noob but I am new to FSX SE. I am attempting to use flight plans in a plane with the G1000 Garmin. All seems well but when I activate the flight plan and set Autopilot to ON, the plane just flies straight ahead and doesn't respond to the G1000 flight plan. It is acting as though I have not set a NAV or GPS for it to follow. I suspected that the Nav/GPS switch was the issue but i can't find one.

Anyone stumble on this before and can show me what I've missed or forgotten??

It's the CDI button at the bottom... it changes the course bar to GPS tracking
OK yeah I knew that but forgot. anyway it still is not working like my old system did. I got FSX in a box when it first came out and had the full set of pro controllers. It took months but I got it all working perfectly. Since then many years have gone by and the controllers have gone by the wayside and now Im in SE. Using a Xbox 360 type controller. Seems like some of the abilities of the game are not there and others have changed. I may not like this much.

Nothing has changed except a few of the keyboard controls are different. All the functions of the aircraft are the same. Steam version is just FSX Gold Edition brought to steam with some performance tweaks, and multiplayer fixed.

I feel your pain in getting it set up in the way you had it. That is the same problem for anyone who has to install again. We forget how much we fix FSX to our own preferences over a few months or even years, and then it is a mess when we lose it all.

What exactly is not working the same as your old in terms of autopilot flight tracking? .... make sure the OBS button beside CDI is not selected as that suspends the GPS sequencing - if I remember correctly. I have replaced the G1000 mostly with something more modern, but I have done some training stuff with it recently and it works exactly as described in the book I am using - and is rock solid in terms of tracking. It is a bit clunky to use compared to the touch-screen add-ons.
Theres no key command by default - tho you can set it. I like SHIFT + N
