Virtual Cockpit losing ability to click knobs/switches
Randomly when I'm flying I will lose my ability to click on knobs/switches in the VC. I use the mouse + spacebar to move my view around the cockpit frequently since I don't have trackIR. I did notice that occasionally the mouse cursor would "flutter" between a clicking finger and a pointer sometimes. Once or twice I was able to get it back into a clickable mode, but it went right back after a few moments. I also noticed that using the ATC window seemed to exacerbate the issue.

Currently I'm flying the RealAir Turbine Duke, but this happens with all my planes, stock included. I've tried moving my viewpoint around and reducing/increasing zoom level, but nothing fixes it. This is a game-breaking bug because it completely inhibits me from playing the game. I have tried for days to find a solution but no one has this issue, or at least the fixes that worked for others have not worked for me.

I have reinstalled multiple times. Verified my game cache numerous times. Deleted every trace of FSX and even reinstalled my OS. This is not an issue with my computer, it's an issue with the software itself.

Any support would be greatly appreciated.

Try changing the camera/eyepoint settings. If camera is located inside an object (often inside a chair), you won't be able to use VC clickable objects.

Re-setting Virtual Cockpit Point of View: CTRL-SPACEBAR
That worked for me, nothing else worked, I searched for a long time ...

I experienced the same issue with an 3rd party plane.

And the result was it was caused by the plane model having more animation bones than FSX-SE can cater for.

I contacted the plane author who quickly released a fix for the issue.

I've just experienced this problem, and as Licopolis suggests, my camera was inside a chair (I'm using TrackIR) once I moved the camera forward the buttons worked. Sadly I wasn't quick enough for the lesson to be stopped as I wasn't paying attention. : /

For me the problem was apparently related to the distance from the panel. When the panel is too far away, it does not work, as I get closer (crtl + backspace) the cursor works again with the mouse on the instruments.

I am having the same problem and everything mentioned here has been tried and then some but the problem persists. Has a solution for this problem been found ??? I am running FSX on Windows 10 I can fly with the auto pilot on and not touching anything the ability to click on anything in the VC will intermitingly come and go.....surely someone has come up with an answer for this by now.

Are other people still having this problem ????

I have the problem too. I play it on 1 of 2 monitors in fullscreen mode. It seems to occur if I go to Monitor 2 to scroll a webpage or reply to chat message in another app. Or if I change from cockpit to external view and then back. I lose ability to manipulate the flight controls with the mouse. Haven't been able to regain it without quitting out.

Open the ATC window and drag it round the screen for a few seconds, then close it and boom it should work. Had the same issue :)

Strangely, dragging the com window across the controls regained clickability...

Yup, can confirm it's the UI windows for ATC/Camera/etc that seem to cause or at least resolve it. I also notice the game slows down in general while this occurs and then goes back to normal after the window adjustment. Hope they address this in the upcoming patch.
