Thanks so much for your replies, it's making more sense now. Someone seems to think I'm having a hissy fit lol - I am not !! All I wanted to know was why it wasn't working and if it was ME doing something wrong... bit of a disappointment though as my QW product that I've paid for is just sitting there useless now (as I don't have the original version of FSX) - they should get their act together really, everything else works super duper on Steam.... I'll just have to master my landing of the 747 win 36knot crosswinds :) - oh, and I still don't have a joystick, I fly them all perfectly well using the keys.... try it if you've not done so before, it takes some practice.
Thanks again everyone ... and Happy New Year to all... here is the QW comment should anyone be interested to know and be in the same position:
<<Hello.
My first post here. I recently picked up a copy of the Steam Version of FSX and was wondering if your products will support it soon. I have both your 757 and 146 planes. The Steam version looks to have better frame rates than my DVD copy of FSX but your software does not let me change where I can pick a different location to install FSX. I have the both versions of FSX installed.
Thanks>>

As of right now we are not able to support FSX: Steam Edition as we've not had a chance to thoroughly review and test our products on this platform. Once we are satisfied everything works as expected we will look into updating installers etc. We have no ETA on that unfortunately.??>>
