- Run the SimConnect.msi in the \lib file
- Then run the one in the \LegacyInterfaces\FSX-XPACK folder.
I don't know what causes SimConnect to "disconnect" so often on my system, but I have to do it evey once in a while when my cockpit starts doing strange things.
I Don't know if this will help you, but it's something else you could consider trying.
I presume that may have something to do with processing a map encompassing the entire globe... and one's hardware processing power behind the time it takes to complete each command.
But, there could also just be some incompatibilities afoot. Do you have every version of SimConnect? Every version of Visual C++? -- When troubleshooting, it's good to get the prerequisites out of the way.
Did you ever have this problem with FSX Gold or Deluxe? How long have you had that PC?
If you're still using FS2004... when was the last time you upgraded your PC?
FSX has always been far more demanding than FS2004. I dare say there isn't a single FSX enthusiast that hasn't had to reconcile the viability of their hardware in order to run FSX.
On my old computer I used FSX Gold and i didnt have this problem with GPS..
Maybe this problem is because of WIN 8.1?
I'd be surprised if an FSX Steam map issue had anything to do with Windows 8.1. Surely there would be more bug reports. For all intents and purposes, the new operating systems are precisely what Dovetail has been making FSX Steam compatible with.
That said, there are several versions of SimConnect, and several versions of Visual C++.
The SimConnect installers for FSX Steam are found in the folders within the, "SDK," folder, inside the FSX Steam main directory. SimConnect versions 60905, 61242, 61259, 62607, 62608, 62610, are all relevant to FSX Steam, as well as, to some of the addons, which search for specific versions of SimConnect.
There should be at least four of those six SimConnect versions inside of the SDK folder. 62610 is the latest beta, and 62607 may have been pulled, due to 62608. But, the other SimConnect versions are all relevant, nonetheless.
As far as Visual C++ is concerned, that requires a bit more research to track down all of the relevant versions that have been released since FSX originally came out. But, the later versions are relevant particularly due to this version of FSX being compiled for the newer operating systems.
The following link may help find many of these Visual C++ versions, but just know that I cannot attest to the veracity of the files, nor am I affiliated with Cnet:

By the way, I have already installed all versions of SimConnect and few versions of C++ like you adviced me.
Another solution is to make sure your frame rates are locked at 30.
Another solution is to make sure there are no other programs running in the background when running FSX.
Another solution was to turn down the scenery sliders in the settings.
If none of that works, than we've got to go back to basics.
Backup and remove the FSX.cfg file found inside the Roaming folder. Startup FSX, and let it generate a new FSX.cfg file.
Run this tool to improve the FSX.cfg file: http://www.venetubo.com/fsx.html
In addition to that tool, here is another helpful guide for the FSX.cfg settings, as well as, how to set the frame rate with Nvidia Inspector: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=359111682&insideModal=1
I would also backup and remove the Scenery.cfg file from the FSX main directory. Than do a, "verify integrity of game cache," and let Steam create a fresh one.
Sometimes, those files become corrupt, as well.
Then try backing up and removing the Gauges folder, found in the main FSX directory... again, followed by a, "verify integrity of game cache," procedure.
If none of that works, than I would completely remove and reinstall FSX Steam, and start testing the GPS out without any flightplans, nor any addons, followed by the above FSX.cfg tools.
The waypoint tracking.. with the aircraft and magenta line not moving with the flight in progress..
Here is the link at SE forum with similar issue.. unresolved
http://steamcommunity.com/app/314160...7925135989/#p2
I have tried everything there.. no luck..
Clicking back and forth FP and TERR.. the screen with the aircraft symbol and the magenta track comes up with the updated position by clicking again couple of times BUT without any movement (tracking) ( it's like refreshing the screen.) all the other details are active and updating. If the flight goes off track from the magenta course line I cannot see it aligning when I am turning the compass knob to align it. The aircraft symbol and the magenta line is Frozen into the Compass Rose which is moving..
No Problems with FSX boxed... it's the SE..
Hope this clarifies the issue.
Thanks..
Vips
PS: I have the screen shots of them.
I do not have a problem with the aircraft symbol like you have. My aircraft symbol in FSX:SE moves along the FP line in the GPS mode with the NAV coupled to the autopilot.
That does not give you a answer to your problem but I can assure you the GPS works in FSX:SE.
Now on the GPS 500 and 295 on A2A Cessna inspite of all the issue I have been having, it started to work with the New BETA version.. when I started.. the sim.. after I logged out and tried again, it's started to do the same thing..
Something is causing the problem/issue..
I'll keep investigatiing until it get's resolved... in the mean time I am using Flight Commander, I hate an aircraft not tracking on GPS and I have keep refreshing to get the position of the aircraft..
Thanks.
