Which Intel CPU to get for FSX, i5, i7 or Xeon?
Hello all,

I really need some advice, I can't decide what type of Intel CPU to get, now I know most of you will probably say i7, well I was wondering if anyone here has tried FSX with an Intel Xeon, as I've read on the internet, that many of the old Xeon's are just rebranded i7's but they have been optimised for server applications, but they still seem to play other games flawlessly.

The reason why I'm asking this is that the i7's seem to be way overpriced they are out of my budget for now I'm afraid.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated,

Thanks :)

EDIT:

The way I understand it, FSX or SE can't take advantage of multi-core CPU's so the best choice would be a cpu that has the highest single core speed.

Ah damn, I thought so, I'm wondering how far I can actually push my CPU before it becomes unstable, I've only got a Corsair 600W PSU, which is not good I understand if I want overclock my AMD FX 8320 even more.

Also I have got FSX on a seperate SSD it does speed up scenery loading quite a bit, but I get terrible lag when I install big airport scenery packs such as Dubai which reduces my FPS down to at least 7 FPS!
