This is not right at all... for example DLC aircrafts are not in SimObject folder in root of FSX but in fsx folder/DLC/dlc id/Simobjects

but the OP is not installing any DLC that use aircraft.

Pegasus stated FS cannot find the default aircraft when installing FSX Steam. The default aircraft are installed into the .....Steamapps\common\FSX\SimObjects\Airplanes folder.

@Pegasus

In your FSX.cfg make sure you have a Main section that has the proper paths so FSX can find your aircraft in the SimObjects\Airplanes folder

[Main]
User Objects=Airplane, Helicopter
SimObjectPaths.0=SimObjects\Airplanes
SimObjectPaths.1=SimObjects\Rotorcraft
SimObjectPaths.2=SimObjects\GroundVehicles
SimObjectPaths.3=SimObjects\Boats
SimObjectPaths.4=SimObjects\Animals
SimObjectPaths.5=SimObjects\Misc

there is some additional code ater paths.5

Delete your 'default flight' inside your 'Documents' folder - then try again. It's probably looking for an aircraft that was last used but since deleted since your reinstall.

n your fsx cfg file check for something like this

SITUATION=E:\My Documents\Flight Simulator X Files\my default2

This reflects my custom default flight but its easy to change to a save flight by coping the name of a flight in the saved flight folder

it would look like this
SITUATION=E:\My Documents\Flight Simulator X Files\your flight save name

And from there you should be able to start flight sim and create a new default flight
