Using FSX: SE with Windows 10 [Official]

Dovetail Games has been conducting Windows 10 compatibility testing with FSX: Steam Edition for some time, and we are pleased to announce that the latest round of testing has shown no major issues.

Regardless, as this is a new Operating System, some users may experience issues not witnessed by us during our testing.

We will be collecting feedback and will endeavour to provide fixes for major issues that arise, so if you encounter any strange behaviour please let us know in this thread.

18/08/2015 Update

Thank you to everyone who got in touch with us about running FSX: SE with Windows 10. It seems a lot of you are having mixed results ranging from everything working fine to nothing working at all.

Windows 10 is a brand new operating system, and like all new OS, a few problems are likely to pop up. Likewise, many graphic and sound card makers are yet to release driver updates which are compatible with Windows 10. Things will get better, however it will take a little time. We understand that this doesn’t stop the situation being any less frustrating for those of you experiencing unexpected problems.

We have compiled a list of possible fixes for those of you having issues running FSX: Steam Edition on Windows 10. While these fixes may solve the majority of problems, we cannot guarantee they will work for everyone.

Does FSX work with windows 10? Any issues?

Win 10 = The same like Win 8.1

I think there are no Problems to run it correctly

it works, I was reading an article the other day from a win10 tester, biggest issue was some addons, I run win 8.1 and it runs fine too, however some posters on here and other places will tell you it wont.......

I have run FSX:Steam in a virtualised (VMWare) Windows 10 Preview without issues sir...

Check your power management settings for the USB hubs.

I have a black bar on FSX at the bottom of my screen since updating to win 10

Got it to run once , no joystick disconnect, now wont run. at all

Clean install W-10, Clean Install Steam, Clean Install FSX:SE. I find that the loading status box (after you select aircraft & start the flight) doesn't show up, this is when you are loading textures, it's just a large black screen, then it will finally load. Additionally, when I'm in flight and push ALT for the top menu to appear and go to FILE -> Exit or END Flight, the dialogue box doesn't show up. I have to push enter, which would be a "yes" selection from memory.

Flight sim doesn't even load anymore click play game it just comes up with "Flight sim has stopped working" Great......... Pc specs are on my profile. Just upgraded to windows 10 and was playing flight sim just before i upgraded aswell lol

Yep cannot get it to run, just the once now as soon as it starts it comes up with has stopped working.

Game is not working on my computer after upgrading to windows 10. When i am trying to run it, first screen show up (FMS loading logo)... and game is loading... loading... loading...
