Windows 10, DirectX 9 incompatible, can't launch game [RESOLVED]

I get this message when I try to launch FSX:SE. This is a new Windows 10 machine so it's clean. I've seen several postings recommending to install DX9, but when I run the installer it tells me it won't install onto Windows 10.

Endless loop?

I haven't found any postings or FAQ's that solve this problem. Please point me to one if it exists, thank you.

Assuming you installed the game in the default folder, go to \Program Files (x86)\steam\steamapps\common\FSX\Installers\_CommonRedist\DirectX\Jun2010\. Run Jun2010_d3dx9_43_x86 if you are using 32-bit Windows or _x64 if you are using 64-bit Windows. Newer Windows don't go out of its way to download DirectX 9.

Thank you, but I don't have anything other than a few msxml??? installer files in the Installer directory. There is no _CommonRedist... folder structure below it. I see places on the web I can download the installer file but those sites make me nervous. Any recommended places I can get it?

BF Bullpup has a slightly different path to my installation. Try C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\FSX\_CommonRedist\DirectX\Jun2010 and run DXSETUP.exe (as admin).

i tried to install it. but when i finished the installation i didnt get the file legecy components , why didnt i get it? the installation said that i got the componenets but i didnt....
