FSX scenery won't load
Hello, I have FSX since the 28th june and the scenery doesnt load when I'm on a flight. For example, I take off from KLAX and I land at LEMD. The whole scenery of the flight (from KLAS for example) to LEMD isnt loaded or just poorly. I crashed several times because of this. 1st: scenery wasnt fully loaded, just the runway and taxiways, the floor was light brown. I landed and as I was going through the taxiway, the floor beneath me disappeared and I fell +-30ft and then I crashed. That always happenes, the floor has a very bad quality and the floor level is a little high or low and then it suddendly corrects itself, but not always. How can I make the scenery to actually load, called "load as I fly"?

Custom scenery (stuff you bought or downloaded) should always be at the top of the scenery list order in Scenery Settings. That way, any elevation disagreements (MS Default vs your Custom) - your scenery wins. If you have any Custom Elevation maps like Terrain Meshes, they should be atop of MS Default scenery, but immediately before Custom Scenery.

Yes, I have it like that. I think I know what the problem is. Do you know how to load the scenery faster as I fly?

While flying, I think what you're looking for is LOD (Level of Detail) Radius in the graphic settings under the Scenery tab. That number defines how far away the program will attempt to load scenery details based on where your plane is at any given moment. The larger the number, the further away it will try to render scenery no matter where you are, so as you travel, you don't get this "loading effect" as things appear and disappear. Beyond that I have no idea what other settings might affect this.

If the scenery is loading slowly and you have LOD at 100 percent, your PC may be working too hard to try and keep up. Although most current PCs should be able to run base (no add-ons) FSX easily, once you start adding custom scenery, you're back to the classic balance of settings vs. performance.

When i fly very fast, its like the circle gets stuck behind me and doesnt move.

Are you using time compression?

what is time compression? and how do i enable it / disable it?

While in the virtual cockpit, if you RIGHT-click on any part of the windshield (make sure you're not near a clickable control), you can show the view menu - one of those options says Hide Top Menu - uncheck it and you will see the menu at the top of the screen no matter what view you are in.

One of those menu options has Simulation Rate. You can increase it all the way to 64x. The way to tell if you are in some form of Time compression is it will appear in the upper right of your screen in bold red if you select any time compression other than Normal.

I think it's probably not a compression problem. I saw this tweak on the payware forums where I bought my custom scenery. I'm only suggesting it here, I haven't tried it myself, so caution is called for.

You can "tweak" the fsx.cfg file.

[TERRAIN]
LOD_RADIUS=4.500000

4.5 is the default maximum. It can be increased by 0.5 up to 9.0 or so.

The notes also say you need to reapply this every time you change any graphics settings in FSX.
